a little about us

Antonio Pacelli is a family business and was established by Tom Gavigan from County Westmeath over 40 years ago and it quickly became a world leader in Irish dance shoes.

The name Antonio Pacelli is a tribute to his parents, Anthony and Patricia. In those days all the best shoes were made in Italy and Tom wanted to convey the excellent quality of his dance shoes, so with typical Irish

inventiveness he took their names and gave them an Italian twist; hence the name Antonio Pacelli!

The business is now run by his two sons, Aloysius and Adrian although Tom still welcomes and serves customers in the Antonio Pacelli shop in Wembley.

Antonio Pacelli incorporated the Hullachan brand 5 years ago and the founder and head designer at Hullachan, Craig Coussins now works in conjunction with Antonio Pacelli on new shoe designs and marketing.

With a focus on innovation and foot health, the Antonio Pacelli design team lead the way in developing shoes and pumps to meet the exacting demands of today’s competitive Irish dancers who are now athletes as much as

dancers.

The Hullachan range represents the latest in materials and technical innovation. For example, our latest pump, the Hullachan 4, includes state of the art padding, as well as a new design registered arch cradle to give you the

highest levels of support and a beautiful arch profile.

The socks are made from combed Egyptian cotton and are piece dyed, so you get the whitest and softest sock on the market.

Why is Egyptian cotton so good?

Egyptian cotton -- Egypt’s climate produces the right conditions to grow the ELS (Extra Long Stable) cotton used in luxury products around the world. True Egyptian cotton produces a long fibre that aids in the production of a soft thread, which is the building block of a soft, fine and durable product.

What is combed cotton?

The combing process separates 80% of the more desirable (longer, thinner more even) fibres from the less desirable (shorter, coarser, less consistent) fibres. The combed cotton is superior in quality compared to carded cotton, as it is finer, stronger, smoother and more uniform.

• Our socks are designed specifically for Irish dancing and are woven from 80% combed Egyptian cotton with 20% nylon.
