ANYTOWN: SLUDGE SURVEY

REPORT SUMMARY

Overview

Algae Control Canada performed a hydrographic sludge survey at the Anytown, Alberta wastewater lagoon system on May 27, 2021. The objective of the survey was to provide a detailed map of sludge accumulation in the four anaerobic cells (cells 5, 6, 7, and 8) and to provide an estimate of hydraulic service capacity in each cell.

Observations

• Build up of cattails and other vegetation along shorelines in all cells.• Cells 7 and 8 have most of the sludge buildup.• Water levels were down significantly since previous visit.• Odours emanating from all cells but most intensively from Cells 7 and 8.• There is a total of ten cells in the system some with aeration and some without.• No engineering blueprints were provided to Algae Control Canada Ltd before this report was prepared.

This document is intended to provide an estimation of measurements. REGARDING VOLUME CALULCATIONS

This report has been prepared by Algae Control Canada Ltd. (“ACC”) for Anytown (the “Client”). It is intended to provide the Client with an estimate of sludge quantity and lagoon hydraulic capacity relative to current water levels.

This report is derived from data and information collected by measuring lagoon depths and elevations with a dual frequency sonar attached to an unmanned surface vehicle (USV). The findings have not been verified with manual checks at the time of this report. Where appropriate ACC uses autonomous flight paths to drive the USV and manual mode when autonomous mode cannot be used. Sludge volume and hydraulic capacity estimates are calculated using software that generates interpolations between transect lines measured during the survey.

The Client understands and acknowledges that estimates of sludge volume and hydraulic capacity will vary from actual sludge volumes and hydraulic capacity and the information provided in this report is intended to be provided as a guideline for planning maintenance desludging or dredging when necessary and should not be assumed to be a precise measurement of sludge volume or hydraulic capacity. ACC will not be liable for damages resulting from any difference between estimated sludge volumes and actual sludge volumes or the difference between estimated hydraulic capacity and actual hydraulic capacity.

The Client agrees to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless ACC, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from all liabilities, in excess of the limits of ACC’s entire liability set out above, incurred by ACC or any other party, in connection with the services provided. Such indemnity shall include the costs of the time spent and expenses incurred by ACC and its affiliates in connection wit the defence of any claims.
