Hello ASDOH Class of 2018, !On behalf of the Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity, our ASDOH Student Chapter, Alpha Zeta, would like to take this time to congratulate you on your admittance to ASDOH and welcome you to the A.T. Still Family. We are excited for you to join a community of diverse, passionate, and enthusiastic students from all walks of life. !Our organization provides a means for our student members to further enhance their dental education through a variety of exclusive resources including access to continuing education seminars, chapter sponsored educational presentations by special guest speakers, complimentary sim clinic tutoring and informational sessions, complimentary class notes, and many other benefits. We are committed to creating an environment where everyone feels welcome and respected among the A.T. Still Community.
This welcome guide was put together by our student chapter, and is by no means complete (just a compilation of recommendations from our student members). Its purpose is to better acquaint you with your new home here in Mesa and the surrounding areas. The next chapter of your life is about to begin, so please feel free to let us know if our organization can assist you in anyway.

feel like your in the mid-‐west... this spot is cozy, fun, and a great place to get some studying or reading done. WiWi is free as well. I know that the hours
don’t really work well for dental students, but if you have a day off (especially come time to study for your boards), this is a great spot to check out (you
wont be disappointed).

Their coffee and scones are really good, and the great thing about this spot is that they are open late (until 11 pm Monday through
Sunday).

Review: It is not open late but it has a great vibe, great food, and not far from campus. Plus joe’s farm grill is right next door. The outdoor patio is lovely and the cupcakes have taken home the top prize on
the Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars”.

Review: There are a multitude of Starbucks in Mesa, but this particular location is really nice because it’s inside of a Barnes and Noble
bookstore, so when you get tired of studying you can look at some magazines/books or just walk around the enormous store or the neighboring
shops to help collect your thoughts.

A.T. STILL UNIVERSITY LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER
Address: School (located in the main building) Hours: hours vary and change, but typically the library is open until 10 pm during the week (sometimes until 12 pm on certain days), and closes earlier (around 8 pm) on the weekends.
Review: There are some things you should know about the learning resource center: it’s NOT 24 hours (although sometimes the guards will let you stay a little past midnight if you have a big exam like during head and neck anatomy, and, often
times, the study rooms in the back are taken. The area in the front provides great lighting (the back of the library is really small and has poor lighting)... very convenient, but it just depends on the type of
atmosphere you prefer when you study.

No other place comes close... the only catch is that it’s located in Scottsdale (well
worth the drive though).

Price Range: Moderate Review: Lebanese cuisine does not get any better than this. The owners have
been running this Wine establishment since the mid-‐1980s, and the food speaks for itself (it’s that good). Be sure to try their tomato soup (amazing), and their lamb shank, which is some of the best I’ve had. !

and tahdig (appetizer)! Note: Our AO Chapter President, Ryan Baker, loves this place, and he will Wind any excuse to eat here despite the fact that it’s located all the way in Scottsdale. According to him, it’s well worth the drive... the rest of our chapter agrees :) !

You may also be called up to sing, so be sure to overcome your stage fright prior to attending! Really fun bar, and it’s within walking distance of other great bars/lounges in Tempe (Mill Avenue is the main street in Tempe where all the fun bars/
lounges are located).

Price Range: Pricey Review: This club/lounge is over the top in all the right ways. Be prepared to
spend a lot of money (bottle service is not cheap here), however most would agree that it is well worth it. This is a great spot to get a table with a big group of friends. In the summer, they have pool side
cabanas which are really fun. The crowd is also a little maturer, but great place
nonetheless.
