Investing in the Future of Higher EducationThe CHED K to 12 Transition Program
• The transition period begins this June 2016, as a result of the full scale
implementation of Senior High School, leading to multi-year low enrolment
in colleges nationwide. The repercussions will continue up until 2021.
• During this period, enrolment for college will come from two cohorts: (1)
Senior High School Early Adopter Schools, and (2) “Last Chance to Go to
College Students” – those who have finished high school degrees prior to SY
2016, have passed ALS Accreditation and Equivalency tests, or those who
have already taken units in college but were not able to finish their degrees.
• The CHED K to 12 Transition Program aims to utilize the opportunity presented
by the foreseen low teaching load in order to upgrade the quality and relevance
of higher education in service of local and national development.
