Vacation Bible School

Every year in the month of June, a week before our Patron Saints Peter and Paul Feast Day

(June 29th) we invite children to engage in a fun and faith filled program - our Vacation Bible School. Vacation Bible School (VBS) is a program that I have found instrumental in connecting with children and families in their communities. Through praying, singing, and studying the Bible, children learn about our faith and continue to be prepared for their mission as Evangelizers.

Each year a theme is chosen to give the children a different perspective to understanding God’s

plan for them and how to apply that knowledge to their Christian growth. The theme chosen for this 2016 VBS is: Getting to know our saints.

VBS will kick off Monday June 20th and end 24th, every day from 8:00am to 3pm (extended day care is available until 6:30pm.) In order to assist parents, a donation of $20 is required from each child to assist with the purchase of supplies.

St. Joseph VBS will be Thursday June 23 through Sunday June 26th. Please talk to Celeste

Shapiloa for more information. Many Catholic adults today can attest to the fact that VBS was where their Catechism was

reinforced, learning about the unchangeable doctrine of the Church with ease. Vacation Bible School is a good way to reaffirm the commitment of God’s people through the centuries:

“We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord.” (Psalm 78:4)

All parents are invited to bring their children from ages 2-18 for this exciting program.

The Foundation for Worldwide

International Student Exchange (WISE)

is seeking host families for the month of

July!

A group of students and a chaperon (a high school teacher) are coming from Spain to spend the month in our community. Host families will be asked to provide room and board and get the student to class in the morning and pick them up in the afternoon. Classes are being held at Sts. Peter and Paul Church.

Briefly, the schedule is half day of class, with a field trip during the other half of the day. Students will spend weekends and the holiday with their host families. All students come with spending money and will keep to a very strict itinerary during the week. Both boys and girls participate in the program and speak very basic English.

If you are interested in hosting a student, or the male chaperon, please contact:

Rob Heide (434) 825-4690
