Chairman’s Comments

Opening Ceremony

Our final goal is problem solving of Indonesian local place on ISTS

(International Symposium on Technology for Sustainability). JSTS is

preparation of ISTS. So we had to learn about Indonesia and what Japanese

technology we can utilize for problem solving during JSTS. I said on opening

speech, “Seeing is believing”. This is Japanese proverb. I think only guessing

and search on the Internet is not enough to make solution more feasible. So

I hoped to participants to feel each country’s thinking, technology, life, habit

and so on to understand each country during JSTS.

After closing JSTS

After finishing JSTS, I felt JSTS has achieved success. There are 2 points

why I thought success. First, we could make great friendship through the

experiences of JSTS. I’m sure that it will make our final goal better.

Second, their proposal was more feasible than we expected. I felt they

could tell own country’s condition and their specialty to make discussion

better. I think they could enjoy all of schedule, not only enjoyable events

but also heavy tasks of workshop. So I’m sure that ISTS will achieve

success also. Thank you for all participants and organizing committee

member.
