LIBRARY CORNER THE FUTURE

Without Warning by Joel C. Rosenburg

This is the third novel with New York Times foreign correspondent J.B. Collins. Following The Third Target and The First Hostage, Without Warning opens as the president of the United States prepares to deliver the State of the Union address. Collins argues that only an all-out manhunt to capture or kill Abu Kahlif, the leader of ISIS, can stop a catastrophic attack inside American homeland. Is Collins correct? Will the president take his advice? Rosenburg’s novels often turn heads with his headline-beating themes and scenarios featured in his novels that unfold in real future news stories.

Galaxy Buck Mission to Sector 9 DVD, 45 minutes

Buck Denver works for the Galactic Mission Board and dreams of carrying God’s love to every corner of the Milky Way! He imagines his future missions and adventures while doing big things. Then Buck finds himself leading a real mission into deep space. He starts without a starship, a crew or even a captain’s license. Along the way to Sector 9, things don’t go at all like he imagined but Buck learns about trusting God with everything – even his dreams!

The Church Library is open on Sundays, between services, and again after second service.

MISSIONS — GOD AT WORK BOTH HERE AND AROUND THE WORLD

We encourage you to get to know our missionaries. You can find a brochure of all the missionaries we support at our missions counter in the lobby. Stop by and see how

God is at work all around the world!

Missionary Highlight of the Month - Yensi & Diana Pimentel

Serving the Lord in the DR

“Hola everyone! There are a lot of exciting things going on here in the Dominican

Republic for the Pimentel family. On Valentine’s Day, our sweet little Liam was born,

making us a family of four. God protected both mom and baby throughout a difficult

birth experience, and we are so grateful for all of you who were praying for us during

that time. Things are going very well here with the growing youth ministry in the church and school, as well as the other

ministries we are involved in. While we have so enjoyed all that we have been involved in here in San Pedro, we are excited

to announce that this summer we will be moving to Higuey, a city about an hour away, to help start up a new ministry!

Higuey is a difficult city to reach for the Gospel, as it is the Roman Catholic capital of the country. We know it will be a

challenge, but we are excited to answer God’s call and see how He will work in the hearts of the people there! Please be

praying for those who we have been working with to take over our roles here in San Pedro, for the people of Higuey, and the

church we will be helping to start. We also still have great financial needs, with already being under-supported, now having

another child, a move to a new city, and losing Yensi’s income from the school. We know that even when things seem

impossible from a human standpoint, nothing is impossible for God! We are trusting Him to provide for us financially,

relationally, and in every way as we step forward in faith. We are so grateful for our church family at LAEFC and the support

you show us. We were without a computer for many months, making writing updates or any work difficult, but through your

missions committee, God provided a computer for us this past week! Thank you again for partnering with us on this journey

of spreading the Gospel and making disciples here in the Dominican Republic.”

““So, chosen by God … dress in the wardrobe God picked

out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet

strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with

second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as

quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And

regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your

basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.”

EAGLES (55+) MINISTRY

Today is the day! If you are reading this article on June 4, today is the day to sign up for the next Eagles’ social function: a trip to the Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant and Stage to see the musical comedy “Mennonite Girls Can Cook” on Saturday, July 8. This one act musical comedy will feature both excellent entertainment and faith-affirming themes. It will also provide opportunity for wonderful fellowship as we gather around a full smorgasbord meal together at the conclusion of the play. Tickets, which include the cost of the play, the buffet, and all tax and gratuities are $46. Invite some friends! Bring the grandchildren (ages 4-12, $26; under 4, free). But we have only a limited number of seats and JUNE 4 is the deadline to sign up! (If you didn’t read your news-letter until you got home and still want to sign up, just call Pastor Gary at 717-628-1560.) If you are reading this after June 4, call Pastor Gary to be put on a waiting list in case of any cancellations.

Look forward to J-Rock next month when we will be having an Eagles-sponsored prayer initiative in support of this community outreach.

Details to follow. See Pastor Gary for the latest updates. “Mount up with wings as Eagles, run and do not be weary, walk and do not faint!"

9:00am Service: Nursery Care and Pre-K / Kindergarten Classes will follow the regular schedule in their classrooms. Starting June 4th and ending July 30th, we like to encourage family worship, so our elementary age children (grades 1-4) will

10:45am Service: Nursery Care and Pre-K / Kindergarten Classes will follow the regular schedule in their classrooms. Starting June 4th and ending July 30th, we like to encourage family worship, so our elementary age children (grades 1-4) will

be joining their parents in the main service for the worship time and then will be dismissed just before the message to go back to the Quad for their very own age-appropriate Kidz lesson. Again this year, Summer Sundays will focus on missions as

we hear from some of our current missionaries. Kids will get to hear first-hand how God is at work around the world and get a glimpse of what life is like in the countries where they serve. It will be a fun, hands-on missions experience! Lots of fun,

new things are in store for kids during the summer months and we can’t wait to see what God will do!

Also, Children in nurseries who had a birthday in March, April, or May are eligible to move up to the next “aged” nursery. Current Fifth Graders will move up to the Junior High youth group on June 4! Move-Up Sunday will be August 6 for all kids

in Preschool through grade 4.
