BLCM church buildings, schools, and homes of our brothers and sisters in Christ have been severely damaged or destroyed. There has been no loss of life among the members of the BLCM, but many have sustained injuries and are still in need of medical care. All of this is happening while the people are struggling to feed and care for their families during the coronavirus lockdown. CLC Project Kinship has sent emergency disaster relief funds to the BLCM to provide for basic needs and shelter. Praise the Lord that no lives were lost among our brothers and sisters in Christ. Ask for His love and compassion upon those who are suffering and for protection for Pastor Monotosh as he travels to visit the people of the BLCM over the next several days. Myanmar The situation with the family of eleven that has been hospitalized and quarantined for several weeks due to the coronavirus is improving. Five family members remain in the hospital, but their health has improved, and they are waiting for their test results to be returned from the government laboratories in Yangon. If the lab results come back negative, they will be able to go home. Take this to the Lord asking that He bless the treatments they have all received according to His mercy that this family will be healed of this disease and be united with each other very soon. Pray also that the Lord will provide for the medical bills that have accumulated during this long hospital stay. The Spiritual Welfare of Our Brothers and Sisters Around the World as much of the world has spent the past several weeks in mandatory coronavirus lockdowns and quarantines, many in developing nations have not had the advantage of the high-speed internet connections that most of us take for granted to provide opportunities for home worship, Bible study, and Christian fellowship. Also, many of the people do not have the financial means to own their own Bibles and/or are unable to read so they depend upon weekly worship and Bible studies to hear, learn, and be strengthened by Gods saving word. Pastoral training has also come to a halt for those who are training around the world. Options for online classes, correspondence, etc. just are not possible as most of the students have very weak and limited data available on their phones, if at all, and virtually none have internet in their homes. Pray that the Lord will bring a quick end to this pandemic that He people may return to worship and Bible study at their churches. Pray that the Lord will lead and strengthen all of us to be reminded of His great love and the truths of His saving grace that we have learned from His word and rejoice always, even in the midst of such uncertain times. The Physical Welfare of Our Brothers and Sisters Around the World Leaders from our sister church bodies in Liberia, Togo, Nigeria, D.R. Congo, Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, India, Nepal, Myanmar, and Bangladesh, along with contacts in several other countries, have reported that much of the population in these developing nations is struggling to provide the basic necessities of life. Most of the pastors and those they serve in these nations provide for their families through day-labor. For this type of laborer, you are paid for your work each day. If you do not work, you do not get paid. The coronavirus lockdowns have caused much physical suffering. Pray that the Lord will provide and that He will bless the CLC Project Kinship aid that has been sent that it will go much further than expected in providing for the sheep of His flock who are suffering. Seminaries Preparing to Re-Open the Wartburg Lutheran Bible Institute in Tanzania and the Holy Trinity Lutheran Bible Institute in the D.R. Congo are planning to bring students back soon. Pray for the safety of the students and instructors as they travel. Pray for the families of the students as they prepare to have their husbands and fathers gone for the next few months of classes. Pray for the teachers as they prepare lessons for this shortened semester. Pray that there will be no government interference with their plans to continue the work of training pastors for the Church. Ask for Gods blessings on these efforts to train men to be faithful preachers and teachers of His saving word during these strange and uncertain times. 10 Good morning and welcome to our visitors! Announcements

Different views, but common goals? Is it possible for government and church to have different views regarding certain issues and behaviors, and yet have common goals? We will take up that question and others at Wednesday’s Zoom Bible class. Email Pastor for sign-on information if you haven’t participated previously.

Confirmation next Sunday Next Sunday, after a three-year course of instruction, four young people will confess their faith in Christ as Savior and repeat the promises made in their behalf at their baptism. The confirmands are: Brianna Fletcher, Trinity Maye, Christian Starr, Ava Williams. Special arrangements for next Sunday: The 8:00 a.m. service will be held as usual with a limit of 50 in the sanctuary. The examination of the confirmands will be held at 9:30 a.m. and attendance will be limited to invited family and friends of the confirmands. The Rite of Confirmation will be held at the 10:30 a.m. service. Attendance in the sanctuary will be limited to the invited family and friends of the confirmands. Overflow seating will be available in the multi-purpose room and kindergarten room at both services. Please register online for either service. Lord’s Supper: Holy Communion will be celebrated at both services, but with the following changes: Communicants will be asked to take a Communion package as they enter the sanctuary. When the Sacrament is celebrated communicants will take the elements from their place in the pew. This will help preserve social distancing during the service.

Letter received... Dear Fellow Christians: Last winter I was able to share the excitement for my participation in 2020’s Mission Helper Trip with you. However, as you can probably infer, the trip has been canceled due to Covid-19. I was very much looking forward to this trip, and even though I will not be able to go this year, I want to thank you profusely for all the prayers and monetary assistance. As for the funds graciously given to me for the trip, the money used for travel insurance will unfortunately not be refunded. We are hoping that the plane tickets on the other hand will be refunded by the airline. If they are, that money will be put back in Messiah Hales Corners’ Mission Helper Sponsorship Fund where the rest of the money will be put as well. This way it can be used for future Mission Helpers from Messiah Lutheran Church in Hales Corners. Thank you again for all your assistance with my Mission Helper pursuits! In Christ, Melanie Gerbitz

Daily Rest The new issue of the devotional magazine Daily Rest has arrived. The congregation has purchased 100 subscriptions, so there is no cost involved to individuals. Pick up your copy today!

Lutheran Spokesman Our bulk subscription to the Lutheran Spokesman expires with the June issue. A sign-up sheet for renewals and new subscriptions is posted on the bulletin board. The cost is $14 for 12 issues mailed directly to you. The Spokesman is an excellent resource for timely devotional articles as well as updates from around the CLC. It also makes a great gift.

P O almighty God, merciful Father, C I, a poor, miserable sinner, confess unto You all my sins and iniquities with which I

have ever offended You and justly deserved Your temporal and eternal punishment. But I am heartily sorry for them and sincerely repent of them, and I pray You of Your boundless mercy and for the sake of the holy, innocent, bitter sufferings and death of Your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to be gracious and merciful to me, a poor, sinful being.

P Upon this your confession, I, by virtue of my office, as a called servant of the Word,

announce the grace of God unto all of you, and in the stead and by the command of my Lord Jesus Christ I forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

C Amen. Gloria

Prayer of the Church

Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus and for all people according to their needs.

(minute of silence)

P: Lord God, heavenly Father, we pray for the wellbeing of Your Church throughout the world. So guide and govern it by Your Holy Spirit, that all who profess themselves Christians be led into the way of truth and hold the one true faith in the unity of the Spirit, in the bond of peace, and in righteousness of life. Lord, in Your mercy,

C: hear our prayer.

P: Pour out upon pastors and teachers and on all Your people Your Spirit of grace, that they may please You in all things and gladly tell of all Your wonderful works. Lord, in Your mercy,

C: hear our prayer.

P: Look in mercy upon all who are in authority over us. Grant them wisdom, compassion, and faithfulness in their offices, that their work may result in peace and order and serve for the welfare of all citizens. Lord, in Your mercy,

C: hear our prayer.

P: We humbly ask for Your presence in every situation of life. Preserve those who travel, provide for the needs of all Your creation, and hear the pleas of those who call upon You for help, that they may patiently wait for Your answer in confident hope. We pray especially for our fellow believer, Todd Fletcher, who will undergo surgery on Tuesday. Preserve him from harm, grant success to the procedure, and bless him with a complete recovery, according to Your will. Lord, in Your mercy,

C: hear our prayer.

P: Merciful Father, Your dear Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, rose in victory over death and the grave. We remember with thanksgiving all Your servants who trusted in Christ and who now stand in Your nearer presence, where all sorrows disappear in joy. Strengthen us in the sure hope of the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come, that we too await with joy our reunion in Your heavenly kingdom. Lord, in Your mercy,

C: hear our prayer.

Salutation and Collect of the Day

P The Lord be with you.

The Collect prayer:

P: Let us pray:

O God, on this day You once taught the hearts of Your faithful people by sending them the light of Your Holy Spirit. Grant us in our day by the same Spirit to have a right understanding in all things and evermore to rejoice in His holy consolation; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Scripture reading: Acts 2:1-21

With the gift of the Holy Spirit, the Lord equips His Church to “make disciples of all nations.” P Blessed are they who hear the Word of God and keep it. Hallelujah!

Gospel Reading:

P The Gospel lesson is recorded in John 16:5-11.

The Spirit is our perfect Counselor, Comforter, and Helper.

P This is the Word of the Lord.

Apostles’ Creed

C I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Hymn 236: Creator Spirit, by Whose Aid

Sermon: Joel 2:28-29
