Here at Beccles Free School, we believe in ‘Providing a foundation for life’. Our aim is to provide an all-round education which inspires our students to develop a love of learning for life. We believe that as well as learning through a broad and balanced, traditional curriculum, our students should be exposed to all kinds of learning and experiences through our exciting enrichment curriculum.

Our enrichment curriculum takes place as part of our school week (on Wednesday afternoons) and at the end of each term. At the end of the Michaelmas and Lent Terms, ‘Enrichment Days’ engage our students in activities that are fun, memorable and exciting ends to an intense period of learning. The Lent Term Enrichment Day is particularly geared also to enterprise and team learning. At the end of the Trinity Term, our Summer Enrichment Week takes place. This full week provides the opportunity for long term engagement for our students in something that is of interest to them or to immerse themselves in something new!

This brochure outlines the Summer Enrichment Week choices for students for 2016. In the first section, we have trips which have places for students in all schools in the Trust which Beccles Free School belongs (Ixworth and Saxmundham Free School students can opt to do these too). This provides students not only with the experiences involved in travelling abroad, but also with the opportunity to meet students and make new friends from other schools. The second section outlines the activities open only to students at Beccles Free School. Each student should make three choices in order of preference on the activity form attached to the back of this booklet(1 = first choice, 2 = second choice, 3 =third choice). They can be from any section. If you have already opted for a trip from the first section, then please put this into your preferences as your first choice. Then return the completed activity choice form to school by the date specified. It should be noted by parents / carers that all prices quoted in each section are already subsidised and therefore any applications made for subsidies will be assessed with that in mind.

I’m sure you will agree there is a huge range of choice for students in this brochure. Whatever is opted for, I know students will have a fantastic, stimulating and inspirational week to round off an exceptional year of learning. To find out more or if you have any questions, please contact Mrs Herod, Assistant Headteacher, at the school.
