“SPREADING THE WORD” Pastor Brett Capaci

Shadow Hills will only be a church of the Word as long as we have pastors who are preachers of the Word and people who love the Word.

1. WE MUST ACCEPT THE BIBLE’S AUTHORITY.

“Therefore, we never stop thanking God that when you received his message from us, you didn’t think of our words as mere human ideas. You accepted what we said as the very word of God—which, of course, it is. And this word continues to work in you who believe.” 1 Thessalonians 2:13 (NLT)

The Bible doesn't just contain the words of God; it is THE WORD of God.

2. WE MUST APPLY THE BIBLE’S TRUTHS.

“But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.” James 1:22 (NLT)

3. WE MUST AFFIRM THE BIBLE’S ESSENCE.

"In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God." John 1:1-2 (NLT)

"So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only son." John 1:14 (NLT)

The goal of a LECTURE is that you leave with new information. The goal of a MOTIVATIONAL SPEECH is that you leave with new behavior. The goal of a SERMON is that you leave worshipping Jesus Christ!
