THE STAR OF BETHLEHEM

The unfolding of the story of the Incarnation continues

today as the Church celebrates the Epiphany. The tale

of the magi from the East is one of the most fascinating

in all of scripture. It has much to teach us about what

we can come to expect, even in circumstances and

places that may seem insignificant or small. Bethlehem was a tiny town, what we might refer to today as a

town without even one stop light. Yet it is over this

seemingly insignificant place that the guiding star stops

in its own search for the place where the Savior would

be born. Too often we fail to recognize the fact that the

star of Bethlehem comes to rest in our everyday lives,

where we can experience God's presence, manifested in

ever new ways. Epiphany calls us to shake off our stupor

and recognize the One who comes to save us. Copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

Today we celebrate the feast of the Epiphany, where the Magi find the newborn king and offer him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.

In the spirit of the Magi, please put your gift in the St. Vincent de Paul Poor Box so that comfort and peace can once again be given to a newborn child.

Liturgical Ministers Needed!

We are in need of people who would be willing

to read a reading at Mass (be a Lector) or to

serve as a Eucharistic Minister. Training is pro-

vided for both liturgical roles. Please consider

serving in one of these ways.

Contact Lisa Mersereau at: [email protected].

Don’t cry because it’s over.

Smile because it happened.

It took many hands, and hours, to put up the

Christmas decorations. Thank you to all who

came out to decorate! We now need help

putting it all away properly into storage.

Please help us:

Sunday, January 8

beginning at 2:30 p.m.

We will work until the task has been completed

(plan for at least two hours).

Prayer for the New Year Lord,

At the beginning of this new year, I offer you my life. Come take my voice, may the words I speak

be filled with encouragement and goodness. Come take my hands, may the work they create

be generous and giving. Come take my feet, may the journeys I walk

be led by your Spirit within. Come take my life Lord,

for I love your goodness,

your kindness and your leading. Amen.
