Our Lady of the Presentation Stewardship Renewal 2018
“To love and serve the Lord.”
Stewardship Prayer
Today and every day, we rejoice in your son, who renews us through the mystery of his resurrection.
Through our prayer and service, we are called to proclaim His gospel
using the gifts and responsibilities bestowed upon us. Give us the courage to be faithful stewards to this call.
Keep us ever mindful of our mission; to go in peace To Love and Serve the Lord.
Empowered by the Holy Spirit, may we transform our world
and offer it in gratitude, back to you. We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen

Jesus reminds us in the Gospel today that the whole law and the prophets depend on these two command-ments – You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind and you shall love your neighbor as yourself. This sums up the greatest commandment and reminds us that Jesus came to establish God’s law of love. When we follow Christ’s command of love, everything in our life falls into place because we are focusing on what is most important. This commandment seems simple, but if we are honest with ourselves, we know it can be difficult to live out. With all the distractions in our lives, how can we give ourselves fully to God? Knowing that others are not always easy to love, especially when they think, act, and look differently than us, how can we really love them? In a society that is often obsessed with love of self, how are we being called to love others as our neighbor? This weekend we begin our annual Stewardship Renewal. This is a time for all of us to reflect on the abundant gifts God has shared with us and how we are using these gifts for the good of our community. Our theme this year is “To Love and Serve the Lord”, which ties in well with the Gospel for this weekend. When we follow the Greatest Commandment and put love of God first in our lives, that love flows naturally into all our relationships and allows us to serve God by serving the needs of others. Through our Stewardship Renewal, all of us have an opportunity to take a look at our involvement and commit to sharing our time, talent, and treasure as a way of serving our community and caring for others. All of us have something to offer, so please take seriously the call to be good stewards of all that God has given us. In the next week, all registered parishioners will be receiv-ing a mailing about our Stewardship Renewal. Please read and complete the forms and return them to Mass the weekend of November 18-19 for our Stewardship Com-mitment weekend. May this time of renewal lead us to new ways of loving and serving the Lord. Please support the Turkey Trot next Saturday, November 4, by participating in the walk/run or making a donation. Check the details in the bulletin. During the month of November the Church remem-bers the deceased in a special way. Our Book of Remem-brance will be out dur ing the month and our Masses of Remembrance for those who have died this past year will be next Sunday, November 5, at the 8:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Masses. Please keep the deceased and their loved ones in your prayers. This Wednesday, November 1, is All Saints Day. Please join us for one of our holy day Masses at 6:30 a.m., 8:15 a.m. (with the school), or 6:00 p.m. Many Blessings!

ECC NEWS
Tuesday, October 17, marked a very special day for the 7 & 8th grade classes at Our Lady of the Presentation. OLP’s sister high school, St. Michael the Archangel, invited our students to a private visit and viewing of the relic of Saint Pope John Paul II. A visiting sister gave a moving testimony to the beloved pope, as our students kneeled in prayer and thanksgiving. We were all reminded that St. Pope John Paul II had a deep love and compassion for young people. His faith in the love, energy, and joy of youth was contagious:
“Young people, do not be afraid to be holy! Fly high, be among those whose goals are worthy of sons and daughters of God. Glorify God in your lives!”
The relic, a vile of blood, is encased in a unique reliquary: a white and gold book of the Gospels, with the pages slightly turned, reminiscent of the book of the Gospels placed on the late pontiff’s casket during his funeral. Every student was able to share a moment with the first class relic of the pontiff. As an enduring treasure, each student was given a beautiful holy card, which was touched to the first class relic, thereby becoming a third class relic. It was truly a wonderful moment that will stay with our students forever.

¡Muchas Bendiciones!

BAPTISM: Parents seeking baptism for their child should register with Mary Pat Storms, 251-1113 or [email protected].
CONFIRMATION: Our Confirmation process begins with registration in the fall of the candidate’s sophomore year with Confirmation usually in the spring. For information, call the Youth Ministry Office, 251-1107.
MARRIAGE: Please contact the Parish Office, 251-1100, nine months prior to your desired wedding date. ANOINTING OF THE SICK: The Sacrament of the Sick is for those who are ill, hospitalized or facing surgery. Call the Pastoral Care Office, 251-1102.
