A. What is Human Geography?

The study of how people make places, how we organize space and society, how we interact with each other in places and across space, and how we make sense of others and ourselves in our locality, region, and world.

B. Syllabus and Class Website

The AP Human Geography class has a class website. The website address is:

sgshumangeography.wordpress.com

The website contains a copy of the course outline and syllabus, including key dates for assignments and readings.

The website also contains day to day class summaries, electronic copies of resources and updates regularly with homework tasks and deadlines.

C. Assessment and Evaluation

• 50% Tests, essays, assignments, class work, reflection etc.

• 25% Harkness Discussions and participation

• 25% Quizzes

• AP Exam:Writing the AP examination in May is optional, although highly recommended. The AP Examination is approximately two hours long and includes both a 60-minute multiple-choice section and a 75-minute free-response section. The multiple-choice section accounts for half of the student's examination grade and the free-response section for the other half.
