Locataion changed Oct 12 & 26Get Off Your Donkey

Fireside Room

Jesus had little patience with institutional religion that cared for its own needs while neglecting the plight of ordinary people. In this class we’ll look at his most famous parables. Jesus sets up as a model of Christian behaviour a man who actually gets down off his donkey and helps a person in dire need.

Facilitators: Brent Groen & Pastor Marty Mittelstaedt

For Parents

Families and churches are each working hard to build faith in kids, but imagine the potential results when the two environments synchronize, maximizing their individual efforts. What can the church do to empower the family? How can the family emphasize the work of the church? Join us as we explore these questions.

“I AM…God!”John 14:1

If Jesus is really God…

THEN THE MYSTERY OF GOD ISREVEALED!

“The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the verycharacter of God, and He sustains everything by the mighty power of His command.” Hebrews 1:3

“Christ the visible image of the invisible God.” – Colossians 1:15-17

“In the beginning the Word already existed. He was with God, and He was God… So the Word became human and lived here on earth among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen His glory…” – John 1:1, 14

THEN GOD REALLY DOES UNDERSTAND!

“Since He himself has gone through suffering and tempta-tion, He is able to help us when we are being tempted.” – Heb. 2:18

“This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for He faced all of the same testing we do, yet He did not sin. 16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” Heb 4:15, 6

When He saw the crowds, He had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.” Matt 9:36

THEN GOD REALLY DOES CARE!16 “For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. 17 God sent His Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through Him.” John 2:16, 17

Matt 9; 35 “ Jesus traveled through all the towns and vil-lages of that area, teaching in the synagogues and an-nouncing the Good News about the Kingdom. And He healed every kind of disease and illness. 36 When He saw the crowds, He had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shep-herd.” Matt 9:35

THEN THE GUESSWORK OFFORGIVENESS IS GONE!

“As they were eating, Jesus took some bread and blessed it. Then He broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, “Take this and eat it, for this is my body.” And He took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. He gave it to them and said, “Each of you drink from it, 28 for this is my blood, which confirms the covenant between God and His people. It is poured out as a sacrifice to forgive the sins of many.” Matt 26:26
