Sketchbook find 4 images to include in your sketchbook, 1 for each

of the following: shallow depth of field

    great depth of field

    frozen action blurred action

analyze the photo by identifying what you think theaperture and shutter speed settings were and whatprinciples of composition the photo illustrates.

(include the entire photo, and no text in the image)

    Aperture & Shutter Speed

Find 8 images to include in your sketchbook,2 for each of the following:

-shallow depth of field-great depth of field-frozen action-blurred action

Analyze the photos by identifying what you thinkthe aperture and shutter speed settings are andwhat principles of composition the photoillustrates, and then write a sentence stating howthe photographer's choice of aperture or shutterspeed makes the photo successful.

(include the entire photo (dont crop it), and notext in the image, presentation counts)

Aperture and shutter speed are directly connectedand must be considered together in order toexpose correctly. You must control both for thisassignment. So you will need to start with what you

want to control first, for the above photo by RalphEugene Meatyard he started with shutter speed, something slower like 125 or 90. Then, he read hislight meter and changed the aperture setting tomatch something with a smaller aperture like /11

or /16. This will also cause there to be a greaterdepth of field. The same is true for a fast shutterspeed: 1000 will need a larger aperture, like /2 or

/4. You can see this in frozen action shots thatusually have a shorter depth of field.

shooting process turn on your camera, set your film speed

start at the point of departure (/8 & 125) find your composition (consider the principles) focus

consider what you wish to affect (depth of field/movement) light meter and adjust

shoot, advance the film when finished press rewind release button, rewind film turn off your camera
