STEEL PRODUCTS MARKET RESEARCH - SOUTHERN OF VIET NAM SURVEY

I. THE NECESSARY OF MARKET REASEARCH

In construction market, there are too many steel products to compete to take the purchase acceptance and / or customer need. Therefore, understanding the market and the potential customers are the opportunities lead to succeed. The Southern of Viet Nam market is too large to know and difficult to put the products into. With the demand from NSMP Company, Apier Corporation, an independent market research company and carry out the market studies upon NSMP request

II. WHAT CAN APIER DO?

- Helping to find out the biggest market for NSMP products, the market is developing too fast, trend and prospects of market conditions, Apier is trying for business opportunities of NSMP.

- Allowing compact vision and efforting effectively in one area, certain range. From there NSMP can set the priority for a specific market target and plan for future market for steel products.

- Understanding of the competitors, including strengths and weaknesses, mistakes and success of their cause.

- Can help to find ideas for new product development. - And others from this market research.

III. ARGUMENT OF MARKET RESEARCH

The report will be devided two parts:

Page 4: APIER MID TERM REPORT CMDCP R1

- The first are steel products from The Central Mekong Delta Connectivity Project. The first part will be sent at mid-term report. The contents are, steel products will be used at CMDCP include Cao Lanh Bridge, Vam Cong Bridge and Connectivity Road. Apier will add more information in the report to clear the market research. The drawing or more, Apier will send later

- The second are steel shape pipe, steel sheet pipe and others. Apier will send the report at the end of process and all the information will be in the final

VIET NAM CENTRAL MEKONG DELTA CONNECTIVITY PROJECT (CMDCP)

I. GENERAL

The Central Mekong Delta Connectivity Project (CMDCP) aims to promote sustained and equitable economic development by constructing high class transport infrastructure traversing the Mekong Delta Provinces of Dong Thap, Can Tho and An Giang.

The objective of the income restoration program is to stabilize, if not improve, the livelihood and income of severely affected and vulnerable households entitled to the Program. This objective will be achieved through a number of programs and activities:

- Improving the productivity of the remaining land through provision of agricultural/husbandry training courses for affected households.

- Developing household economies through provision of support for inputs to establish small businesses, agricultural or husbandry activities.

- Improving skills and employment opportunities through provision of vocational training courses and vocational support

The project has been developed with the support of an Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Government of Australia (GOA) financed Project Preparation Technical Assistance (PPTA) grant. The purpose of the PPTA was to develop the project to a level suitable for ADB financing. The PPTA provided the resources required to prepare the project and identify adequate mitigation of the project’s social, resettlement, environmental, and other impacts. The PPTA also reviewed and updated feasibility studies that the Government of Viet Nam’s (the Government) Ministry of Transport (MOT) and its CUU LONG Corporation for Investment, Development and Project Management of Infrastructure (Cuu Long CIPM) had prepared for the project. The PPTA found the project to be financially and economically feasible, with social and environmental impacts that could be effectively mitigated.

II. DETAILS

The Central Mekong Delta Connectivity Project (CMDCP) will construct the portion of Viet Nam’s proposed Second Southern Highway that traverses the Mekong Delta region to the west of Ho Chi Minh City (see map at Attachment 1). The project consists of three components:

- The Cao Lanh bridge, a cable stayed structure about 2 km long and 6 lanes wide over a branch of the Mekong River, with a central span of 350m and a maximum height above high water level of 37.5m;

- A connecting road between the two bridges about 16 km long, designed to 6 lane expressway standard and constructed initially to 4 lanes;

- The Vam Cong Bridge, similar to the Cao Lanh bridge, with a central span of 450m (consisting of Component 3A, the bridge itself, and Component 3B, the bridge approaches).

Geological investigation boring will be carried out at all abutments and priers with standard penetration. Details are as below: 1) Package 1: Cao Lanh Bridge and approach roads

Cao Lanh Bridge

- For the main river piers, 2 boreholes for each pier foundation, one of which will be carried to twice the depth of the foundations. For the purposes, lengths of 100m and approximately 200m below the river bed for each of the two boreholes for each foundation will be carried out.

- For piers of the approach structure piers, it is expected there will be about 34 piers and 2 abutments. One borehole/pier is arranged. The depth of the boreholes will be carried out 75~90m.

Page 7: APIER MID TERM REPORT CMDCP R1

Bridges on approach road section (5.7km) includes 7 bridges, in which:

- Three long bridges (total 32 piers), one borehole/pier is arranged. The depth of the borehole will be carried out at least 70m.

- One medium bridge (total 6 piers), one borehole/pier is arranged. The depth of the borehole will be carried out at least 45m..

- Three bridges (total 6 piers), one borehole/pier is arranged. The depth of the boreholes is expected to be at least 40m. 2) Package 2: Connecting road between Cao Lanh & Vam Cong (15.7km) includes 18 bridges, in which:

- Two long bridges (total 28 piers), one borehole/pier is arranged. The depth of the borehole will be carried out at least 70m.

- Five medium bridges (total 44 piers), one borehole/pier is arranged. The depth of the borehole will be carried out at least 65m.

- 11 small bridges (total 22 piers), one borehole/pier is arranged. The depth of the borehole will be carried out at least 60m. 3) Package 3B: Vam Cong Bridge approach:

- Two small bridges (total 4 piers), one borehole/pier is arranged. The depth of the borehole will be carried out at least 60m.

- One medium bridges (total3 piers), one borehole/pier is arranged. The depth of the borehole will be carried out at least 70m.
