Qualification overview

The APM Project Professional Qualification (PPQ), developed by the Association for Project Mangement (APM), is a self-study, examination-based qualification that assesses your capability in delivering projects, programmes and portfolios.

Covering the core and specific competences project professionals require across all areas of the profession, PPQ is the most comprehensive assessment of professional project management capability available.

The APM Project Professional Qualification is aimed at any project professional either:

• Working in project, programme or portfolio management;• Holding the APM Project Management Qualification or equivalent;• Looking to become a full member of the APM (MAPM).

No prior knowledge or experience is required for this qualification. However, project experience will bring an advantage to the course.

Commitments required

• With the relevant experience and commitment, PPQ can be completed within 2 years (6 months per module).• The APM specify all 4 exams must be completed within a 3-year period.• There are three core and one elective module to complete, each with a 3-hour written exam where a project scenario is given for each.• Each module requires on average 40-60 hours of self-study and prepartion, although this may be less for very experienced project managers.

Specialist Support

• Completing a PMA6 self-assessment. • Personal one-to-one telephone briefings with your specialist support coach.• Learning materials from The PM Channel.• Unique practice papers with tutor marked answers and feedback for each module.• Provek guidance for the 5-page ‘open book’ notes.• Exams take place at Provek, West Berkshire.
