Summary:
The background to this peice is critical to those who are unaware of the history or even existence of the man
named Nicola Tesla. This for the simple reason that my goal in creating this peice was to present a rare look into the
darker side of his existence, to show a man that was in constant struggle with both his greatest gift andgreatest burden. And if the suject matter is unknown for this peice then the original intent becomes somewhat
ost.
The Inner Demons of Tesla
History:
The subject matter of this work revolves around the man named Nicola Tesla. Inspiring much of what
would later be our science ction, Nicola Tesla was a genius inventor inventing a huge variety of things such as
the X-ray, the radio, radar, AC electricity (what is used in all households today), and the tesla coil. Much oh what
he accomplished, including the feat of lighting a eld of light bulbs set into the earth many miles
awaywirelessly.
Unfortunately the lines between great genius and insanity are often blurred. Tesla had a gift. He could
build machines in his head to great extent and detail because he could see it clearly before him just by thinking,
however, this was not a skill he controlled, and often times the lines de ning reality were lost to him. Not to
mention he su ered from both OCD and Schizophrenia.
Tesla lived the last ten years of his life in a two-room suite on the 33rd oor of the Hotel New Yorker, room
3327. There, near the end of his life, Tesla showed signs of encroaching senility, claiming to be visited by a speci c
white pigeon daily. However, when said pigeon died Tesla viewed it as a " nal blow" to himself and subsequently
passed away a week later.
