Students take turns leading us in our daily calendar activities.

1st Grade, Mrs. Vogel

Mrs. Vogel’s First grade

has been learning about space and

experimenting and finding out about the phases of the

moon.

1st Grade, Mrs. Parsons

Kade’s mom

gave all of his

class blankets,

just in time for

the snowy

weather!

THANK YOU!

2nd Grade, Mrs. Nold 2nd Grade, Mrs. Thomas

Second Grade really measures up! We started a new unit

in math. We are working with tape measures and rulers

to measure things around the room.

Grinch Day! We wore green

and had some crazy Who-ville hairstyles. We started our

Grinch-mas by listening to the story How The Grinch Stole

Christmas. Our class also spent a while making new Christmas

trees for The Whos using toothpicks and marshmallows.

To finish our celebration, we watched The Grinch and had

some Grinch Punch! A huge thank you to the parents

who were able to donate supplies for such a fun learning

experience.

Playing a

game with

you…

Helps us

learn to

In December, we learned about the different holidays and learned that Dreidels are played with

during the Hanukkah celebration. We also played a card game called Trash Can

to help us work on Number Sense.

Music, Mr. Payton, & Band, Mrs. Hill

This year’s

Sounds of the

Seasons Concert

was a

delightful event!

Thank you to

Mr. Payton and

Mrs. Hill for all of

your hard work,

to all of the

of your hard

work and to all

encouraging

them to do their

very best. 5th Grade, Mrs. Parsons

PALS "Partners in Active Learning Support" PALS mentors teach young students about the

science and business of agriculture. FFA chapter officers are paired together to teach

agriculture lessons to a class in the elementary. Some classes learned about plants and

other classes about animals. “This is a great learning experience for both the

elementary students as well as the FFA Officers.” - Sarah Leiber, FFA Advisor

School Closing Procedure Winter is here! With winter, the possibility

of school closings due to inclement weather also arises. If you are in doubt as to wheth-er school will be in session due to inclement weather, DO NOT CALL THE SCHOOL! The School Reach program should send a message to the active phone number you provid-ed the school, as well as an e-mail to the e-mail address that you provided. Also, the Student Handbook located in the front of the Student Planner which comes home with your child nightly, lists local television and radio stations that will carry school closing news. If you do not see Appleton City R-II mentioned, there will be school that day.

Be Prepared! NO HAT , NO COAT, NO GLOVES, NO RECESS

On occasions when your child needs to be absent from school, a parent or guardian must send a note or call the elementary office at

660-476-2108 before 11:00 am on the day of the absence to explain the absence.

REMEMBER, “students who accumulate ten or more absences during the semester will receive an

absenteeism referral to be filed in the appropriate county juvenile court. At that juncture the

situation becomes a legal matter. Any attendance pattern the principal deems excessive or

unusual may also be reported to the juvenile officer.” (Student Handbook).
