3.0 Description of Appliance The UIKP 1550 and the UIKP 1554 are built-under fridges for door-on-door system. The appliances are controlled using series 4 electronics with air sensor and evaporator sensor. The appliances are cooled using a foamed-in rear wall evaporator. The 4-star freezer compartment on the UIKP 1554 is also equipped with a wrapped evaporator tube.

4.0 Main components and their functions
4.1 Electrical components and functions
4.1.1 General
Electronics
Type: Series 4 electronic control system
Components: Integral electronics
Sensors
Ambient air sensor: Position: On integral electronics
Function: Impact on temperature control
UIKP 1554: Also switches the winter mode heater ON and OFF
Info: An ambient air sensor error is only displayed in the service menu. In the case of a defect, the integral electronics must be replaced.
Compressor
Type: VCC compressor, AC protocol
Function: ON: Evaporator sensor switch-on value Note: Switch-on delay time (8 min) must have elapsed.
OFF: Air sensor switch-off value
VCC compressor, AC protocol – Compressor with various speed levels. – The compressor is triggered via an inverter, the inverter electronics are mounted directly on the compressor. The inverter receives a control command from the appliance electronics. – Appropriate command signals in the AC protocol control the compressor speed levels and switch-off. These commands are sent cyclically depending on the type of command. Note: If commands are absent or not recognised, the compressor will continue to run at a pre-specified speed level! Function test see chapter 7.5: Customer service mode
Troubleshooting, see Chapter 8.2: VCC compressor diagnostic LED
Base fan
Position: On the rear side in the appliance base, between the compressor and condenser.
Function: ON: When compressor is running, – At low speed when ambient temperature is below 10 °C. – At medium speed when ambient temperature is below 36 °C. – At high speed when ambient temperature is above 36 °C.

4.1.2 Refrigerator compartment
Electronics
Setting range: +2 °C to +9 °C
Display range: +2 °C to +9 °C (target value display)
Functions
SuperCool: ON: Refrigerator compartment sets itself to +2 °C for 12 hours.
OFF: Refrigerator compartment adjusts itself to the set target value.
Defrosting: Automatic, while the compressor is in stand-by.
Temperature alarm: Not featured
Door alarm: When: After 60 seconds if the door is open.
Audible: 3 beeps
Visual: Not featured
Sensors
Air sensor: Position: Behind the air sensor cover, on the left rear bottom side of the interior.
Function: Switches the compressor OFF.
Evaporator sensor: Position: Foamed-in, above the defrost water drain. Sensor position, see schematic diagram Fig. 3.1.
In spare parts case: Behind service air sensor cover
Function: Switches the compressor ON. Ends the defrost phase.
Switches
Door switch: Position: Behind the front panel, underneath the temperature display. On the integral electronics, not replaceable separately.
Type: Magnetic field sensor
Function: Activation via: Magnet in the door, magnet is not replaceable.
Switching signal when:
Door closed: Interior light OFF
Door open: Interior light ON Door alarm ON after 60 s.
Consumers / Loads
LED interior light: Position: UIKP 1550: Inside ceiling, central.
Position: UIKP 1554: Inside left, beneath the 4-star compartment
Function: Lights up as soon as door is opened. Is switched OFF after door has been open for 15 minutes.
Winter mode heater (only UIKP 1554)
Position: Foamed-in on the inside left of the side wall. Beneath LED interior light.
Function: Triggered at an ambient temperature below 18 °C while the compressor is stationary. Causes longer compressor runtimes which ensures that the temperature in the 4-star freezer compartment is kept more constant.

8.2.1 Activation of diagnostic LED
A green LED may flash through the light-permeable front cover of the VCC inverter. The diagnostic LED is activated of 60 minutes (diagnosis period) after activating the service mode Ld. If a valid command is recognised, the LED flashes once. If no valid command is recognised, the LED flashes twice.
