A day in the life of…‘A day in the life of an environmental science student’ gives WA secondary school students the opportunity to fi nd out what studies in this fi eld would be like at UWA. Students will take part in a variety of workshops and demonstrations throughout the day that are designed to give them a feel for the vast array of opportunities that exist in environmental science.

Students will also fi nd out more about the UWA campus and student lifestyle, as well as the career pathways available in this area through discussions with UWA staff and current students.

Activity programStudents will have the opportunity to have workshops in*: The human impact on wetlands and water quality The conservation of biodiversity: plants and animals Marine science – discover how marine animals use their

senses, including senses that humans do not have.

Activities and program are subject to change but will remain within the confi nes of the environmental science discipline. Students must wear closed-in footwear for all activities.

Morning tea will be provided on the day. Students are invited to bring their own lunch or buy it from one of the university cafés.

CostThere is no cost for students to take part in the day (except if students wish to purchase their lunch). Students will need to make their own travel arrangements to and from the UWA campus in Crawley.

How to applyStudents interested in attending the day need to submit their completed application form (found on the back of this brochure), along with a 200-250 word statement outlining their interest in attending. A parent or legal guardian must sign the application. Due to laboratory constraints, participant numbers are limited.
