Conclusion• PIXE has proven to be a powerful tool for
delineation of trace element distribution at levels relevant to environmental study.
• Judicious selection of filters is essential in order to obtain the maximum benefit from the method.
• The MDL is good spanning the range 1 – 100 ppm either not accessible or tedious to obtain by the electron microprobe.
