There’s a good reason why many movies have been shot on location in New Milford. The western Connecticut town is quintessential New England, with a rustic setting, historical homes and buildings, and a strong sense of com-munity. Like much of Litchfield County, New Milford is mainly a residential community of about 28,000 people. The town is proud of its colonial his-tory and roots as well as the modern touches and amenities that make New Milford a pleasant place to live and work.

Geographically, New Milford is the largest town in the state of Connecti-cut. Much of the 64 square miles exists as open space. The town is home to parks and numerous bodies of water, including the Housatonic River. New Milford borders Candlewood Lake, Connecticut’s largest lake and a popu-lar destination for outdoor enthusiasts. The community is also home to one of the largest town greens in the state, as well as quaint restaurants and inns that underscore the New England village setting. New Milford is acces-sible from Interstate 84 and is close to Danbury, located not far from the border with New York.

New Milford Public Schools serves more than 4,000 students. It is a high achieving school district that expects great things from its teachers and other employees to help students to reach their full learning potential. Teachers engage in regular professional development opportunities and are expected to adopt best practices to use in the classroom. The district is dedicated to helping each student excel in an ever-changing world and embrace the challenges that are before them.

The public school system consists of five schools. Hill and Plain Elementary and Northville Elementary serve students from pre-kindergarten through the 2nd grade. Sarah Noble Intermediate School serves students in grades 3-5, and Schaghticoke Middle School houses students from grades 6-8. New Milford High School serves students in grades 9-12.
