The Board of Directors of the National Industrial and Mining Company (SNIM) approved, onApril 7, 2016, the appointment of Mr. Brahim Mohamed El Moctar to the position of ChiefExecutive Officer of the Company. The new CEO of SNIM occupied as Minister in charge of Water and Sanitation before the lastpartial reshuffle of the Mauritanian government announced on 1 April 2016. He also held theportfolio of Rural Development and the Agriculture between August 2009 and September 2015. Mr. Brahim Mohamed El Moctar began his professional career at SNIM in 1984, where he wassenior executive to his appointment to the government in 2009 as Minister of RuralDevelopment. There has held the positions of Branch Manager in Paris, Director of Human Resources andDirector of Purchasing and Logistics. Between November 2006 and January 2007, as Director of Human Resources in the SNIM, henegotiated the process of transition to the 40-hour week. A graduate in Economics (Master) of the Faculty of Law Economics and Social Sciences inCasablanca (Morocco), Mr. Brahim Mohamed El Moctar is 54 years old. He is married and hasfour children. SNIM mainly operates in research, exploitation and marketing of iron ore. Its current productioncapacity ranges between 12 and 13 million tons per year. SNIM is 78.35% controlled by theMauritanian state.
