Ushers’ Ministry“For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God

than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.” Psalms 84:10

The mission of the Ushers Ministry is to provide better service to God and His people by being ready and willing to serve; being kind and courteous at all times; and leading spiritual dignity to the whole church service.

From the early beginnings the Bethlehem Baptist Ushers were reorganized in 1975 by Sis. Genell Stewart. Officers included: President – Sis. Ella Mae Sullivan, Vice President – Sis. Earlie Maddox, Secretary – Sis. Vela Mae Bailey, and Treasurer - Sis. Tessie

Mae Kennedy. After many years of dedicated service, a new president was elected to the Usher Board. In 1976, Sis. Jeanette Redmond became president and served for five years. In 1981, Sis. Shirley Redmond became president and Bro. James Brown became

Treasurer. Other officers retained their status. As the youth of the church began to increase, Sis. Redmond saw the need to incor-porate them into the ministry. The Junior Ushers were organized with the following officers: President -Bro. Raymond Griffin, Vice

President – Sis. Shenya Smith, Secretary – Sis. April Bailey, and Advisors – Sis. Shirley Redmond & Sis. Jeanette Redmond. The Usher Board joined the Reedy River Baptist Usher Union under the leadership of Dr. C.O. Jackson and also the South Carolina State

Education & Missionary Usher’s led by Mrs. Christina Dixon.

Bethlehem Greeters’ Ministry “Welcome him with Christian love and with Great joy.” Philippians 2:29

The Greeters Ministry’s mission is to enthusiastically greet and welcome all worshippers, providing direction and assistance to all in a Christ-like manner.

In 2004, under the leadership of Pastor Phillip M. Baldwin. A vision came to the Ushers’ then secretary Sis. Lyshedra Williams to incorporate a Greeters’ Ministry into the Ushers’ Ministry as the church’s membership was steadily increasing. Bethlehem’s first group of greeters began on May 23, 2004, during the Bethlehem Ushers’ Appreciation Day with 35 Greeters and 1 Coordinator, Lyshedra Williams. In April of 2005 during the Church Semi-Annual Business Meeting the Greeters’ Ministry was moved from

under the Ushers’ Ministry to a free standing ministry in the Worship Cluster. The first officers of the Greeters were: Sis. Lyshedra Williams, President; Sis. Anglia Perry, Vice President; Secretary, Sis. Sherry Sizer Latimore; Treasurer, Bro. Matthew Irby;

Chaplain, Sis. Sally Clark; Cluster Leader, Bro. Tony Griffin; Deacon Leader, Dea. Clyde Moore.
