On Divine Mercy Sunday, Jesus offers all souls the extraordinary opportunity to trust in His mercy and experience complete forgiveness of their sins and the punishment due for those sins. Jesus simply asks us to make a good confession and receive Him in Holy Communion on the Feast of Mercy. Accepting His offer of forgiveness presents us with a soul that is fully cleansed - and in the proper condition to receive the many graces God wishes to offer us. It is at this point that we must realize we have a responsibility to maintain our soul’s condition by heeding the Message of Divine Mercy that Jesus sent us through St. Faustina. "I demand from you deeds of mercy, which are to arise out of love for Me. You are to show mercy to your neighbors always and everywhere. You must not shrink from this or try to excuse or absolve yourself from it. I am giving you 3 ways of exercising mercy toward your neighbor: the first, by deed, the second, by word, the third, by prayer. In these 3 degrees is contained the fullness of mercy, and it is an unquestionable proof of love for Me. By this means a soul glorifies and pays reverence to My mercy. Many souls ... are often worried because they do not have the material means with which to carry out an act of mercy. Yet, spiritual mercy, which requires neither permissions nor storehouses, is much more meritorious and is within the grasp of every soul. If a soul does not exercise mercy somehow or other, it will not obtain My mercy on the day of judgment. Oh, if only souls knew how to gather eternal treasure for themselves, they would not be judged, for they would forestall My judgment with their mercy" (1317).

THE DIVINE MERCY

CHAPLET is a great choice of prayer to offer in reverence of God’s mercy. It is highly desired by Jesus that we pray this Chaplet daily.

“Say unceasingly this chaplet that I have taught you. Anyone who says it will receive

great Mercy at the hour of death.”

The full text of the Chaplet is included in this bulletin. Shown as a preparatory prayer to the Divine Mercy Chaplet is the “Conversion Prayer” which Jesus taught St. Faustina. Our Lord told her, “If you say this prayer, with a contrite heart and with faith, on behalf of some sinner I will give that soul the grace of conversion”…

"O BLOOD AND WATER WHICH GUSHED FORTH

FROM THE HEART OF JESUS, AS A FOUNT OF MERCY FOR US,

I TRUST IN YOU” Jesus expressed that this prayer is particularly pleasing

to Him. Many Catholics use this short, powerful prayer as their “3 O’Clock Prayer” to the Divine Mercy.

“Tell all souls about My mercy, while

there is still time.” - Diary of St. Faus na

CORPORAL WORKS OF MERCY • FEED THE HUNGRY • GIVE DRINK TO THE THIRSTY • CLOTHE THE NAKED • SHELTER THE HOMELESS • COMFORT THE PRISONERS • VISIT THE SICK • BURY THE DEAD

SPIRITUAL WORKS OF MERCY • TEACH THE IGNORANT • PRAY FOR THE LIVING & DEAD • CORRECT SINNERS • COUNSEL THOSE IN DOUBT • CONSOLE THE SORROWFUL • BEAR WRONGS PATIENTLY • FORGIVE WRONGS WILLINGLY

Page 4: April 14, 2013

THE DIVINE MERCY CHAPLET prayed on regular Rosary Beads

SIGN OF THE CROSS (holding crucifix)

In the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

CONVERSION PRAYER (first “Our Father” bead)

You expired Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls and the ocean of Mercy opened up for the whole world.

O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us.

O Blood and Water which gushed forth from the heart of Jesus, as a fount of Mercy for us, I trust in You. (3 times)

OPENING PRAYERS (First three “Hail Mary” beads)

OUR FATHER Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

HAIL MARY Hail Mary, full of grace, The Lord is with thee.

Blessed art thou among women, and Blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen

APOSTLES' CREED I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord;

Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead; on the third day He rose again;

He ascended into heaven, sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life ever-lasting. Amen.

CHAPLET PRAYERS (On each “Our Father” bead before a decade)

'Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.'

(On each “Hail Mary” bead of a decade) 'For the sake of His sorrowful Passion have mercy on us and on the whole world.'

(After the 5th decade, on the center bead) 'Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world'. (3 times)

CLOSING PRAYER

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair

nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is love and mercy itself. Amen

Jesus, I Trust in You. St. Faustina, pray for us.

JESUS TOLD SAINT FAUSTINA...

"SAY UNCEASINGLY THIS CHAPLET THAT I HAVE TAUGHT YOU. ANYONE WHO SAYS IT WILL RECEIVE GREAT MERCY AT THE HOUR OF DEATH. PRIESTS WILL RECOMMEND IT TO SINNERS AS THE LAST HOPE. EVEN THE MOST HARDENED SINNER, IF HE RECITES THIS CHAPLET EVEN ONCE, WILL RECEIVE GRACE FROM MY INFINITE MERCY. I WANT THE WHOLE WORLD TO KNOW MY INFINITE MERCY. I WANT TO GIVE UNIMAGINABLE GRACES TO THOSE WHO TRUST IN MY MERCY...." "....WHEN THEY SAY THIS CHAPLET IN THE PRESENCE OF THE DYING,

I WILL STAND BETWEEN MY FATHER AND THE DYING PERSON NOT AS THE JUST JUDGE BUT AS THE MERCIFUL SAVIOR".
