Patron Saints for the Week
St. Anselm philosophy, theology
TOWN HALL MEETING: After all the masses this next weekend we will have a brief Parish Meeting. At this meeting, which will take place right in church, right after mass, I will present to you the four projects that we are proposing to accomplish. A couple weeks ago I told you about the roof project and the heating/AC in the Church. I want to share with you the other two projects: Snow Removal Equipment and Stained Glass Windows. I have a Power Point (slide show) that will give you a very good picture of the needs and possibilities we are proposing. I will announce the monetary goal of the Appeal and how the Appeal will be conducted. The Date for the Kick-off the Appeal to pay for these projects is May 21. Since next Sunday is Divine Mercy Sunday, after the meeting we will recite the Divine Mercy Chaplet. WALKING THE STATIONS: Good Friday—11:30 am, beginning in front of our church we will walk the 14 stations of the cross. These stations have been interspersed along the route be-tween Holy Trinity and the Congregational Church. One of my senior boys made the crosses, volunteers have sanded and stained them. Buckets to hold them have been prepared and filled with sand. A PA will be mounted on a pickup and will provide music as we move from station to station. Booklets have been printed for your participation. A bus will be used to allow those who can’t make the walk to still be part of it. And the bus will bring you back to your car afterwards. A lot of thought and planning has gone into this. Now, it’s your turn to make it meaningful by your reverent participation.
A COUPLE OTHER NOTES: 1) All Elementary Parents who will have kids in grades 1-6, next
year: you got a flyer about the Family Formation Rollout Meeting on Thursday, April 27 at 7:00 pm in HT Gym.
2) Totus Tuus: The SUMMER CATHOLIC BIBLE SCHOOL will happen here at Holy Trinity, July 22-28. Flyers were sent home to all parents who have kids in grades 1-6 and Jr-Hi/HS as well.
3) Phil Novotny, a seminarian for the Archdiocese of Omaha, will be joining us here in Hartington for the Summer. Welcome Phil, I look forward to working with you and having you help with what will be going on this summer. In particular he will help with HT Camp and our Totus Tuus week. He will also help me set up a schedule for farm blessings.
4) Mass Time Changes After Easter: Because of the funeral at 10:30 am, there will be no 8:05 am mass on Easter Monday. So, if you want to come to mass that day, come to the funeral and help us pray for LaVerne Kast. There will be no 8:05 am mass on Tuesday but there is a mass for Cedar at 1:30 pm on Tuesday. On Wednesday there will be no mass at 8:05 but I will be back in time for a mass at 5:00 p.m. that evening.
BLESSED EASTER TO ALL: Jesus Christ is Risen—He is Risen Indeed!! And from the Russians and the Ger-mans: Christos voskres! Voistinu voskres! Christus ist auferstanden! Er ist wahrhaft auferstanden! ALLE-LUIA! Alleluia is our song for beyond anything we could have imagined our God has conquered death and adopted us in such a way that we will inherit the same conquering. We are promised eternal life and the Resurrection of the Dead. SO MUCH HAPPENING: The crush of the end of the school year comes directly on the heals of Easter. No pause, no time to catch your breath. Prom is out of the way but now comes graduations (K, 6th, HS), First Com-munions (in every parish), Awards Banquets and cere-monies, concerts, May Crowning, Mother’s Day, plan-ning for next school year, budgets; it’s just crazy. The ride will not stop until we can catch our breath when all the kids go home for the summer. Then all the summer stuff begins....but I am looking for the pause of the summer—really looking for the pause. FIRST COMMUNION: We celebrate with our Second Graders on Sunday, April 30 at 1:00 pm. We had a nice retreat last Sunday and it went well. Getting used to the parish and what has been done and who does what.
