April 2011 ASAP
During this Lenten Season as you continue your walk with Jesus
here’s a helpful tool to assist you in keeping your eyes and your heart
open to God’s presence and grace.
Most of us are familiar with the abbreviation ASAP, a polite re-minder to us “to get on with it,” “hurry up - we’re waiting,” “I need to know NOW!” A nice little abbreviation to bring more
stress to our lives, drive us to more action, rob us of peace and calm.
So here’s a “new meaning” for ASAP - to store up in your mind and your heart. “Work to do, deadlines to meet; you’ve got no time to spare, but as you hurry and scurry” ASAP - Always Say A Prayer.
In the midst of the family chaos, when quality time is rare, just do your best, let God do the rest ASAP - Always Say A
Prayer.
Ever seem like your worries are much more than you can
bear? Slow down and take a breather ASAP - Always Say A Prayer.
God knows how stressful life is; He wants to ease your cares, and He’ll respond to all your needs ASAP - Always Say A
Prayer” (Author Unknown)
God knows what’s going on in our lives every moment.
The hurry. The hassle. The worries. The anxiety. He makes Himself available.
He invites us to come, spend time with him and share freely. ASAP - Always Say A Prayer He is waiting. Ready to help!
So when trouble comes, demands overwhelm, stress increases, pray - first, last and always.

A Word from the Terrific Twos . . .A Word from the Terrific Twos . . .A Word from the Terrific Twos . . .A Word from the Terrific Twos . . . April showers bring May flowers! Terrific Twos is hoping that April also brings some warm weather. We are ready for nice warm Spring weather to get outside and play more. The theme this month is Easter, Spring and Flowers. The children will make their "surprise" Mother's Day gift; make a bird feeder out of rice cakes, peanut butter and birdseed; glue feathers on a bird and give him a name (it is always so cute to see the names they come up with!); and sing a new song about Spring every day at circle. To celebrate Easter, we will hear an age-appropriate Easter story, decorate a cross and color a cute bunny.
What a joy it is to share this wondrous time of the year with such special children. Jen, Mary Kay, Connie and I thank God for these children and their families, and the miracle of life!
Easter blessings to our wonderful Grace family.
Beth Zupkus Director, Terrific Twos
A Word from the Tremendous Threes . . . A Word from the Tremendous Threes . . . A Word from the Tremendous Threes . . . A Word from the Tremendous Threes . . . The highlight of March was Dad & Me Day! The students came to school on a snowy Saturday and had a mini school day with their Dads! It was a very special day & lots of fun. The Dinosaurs came back.... to our class room. A volcano erupted, we made fossils and dinosaur skeletons too. We were paleontologists and searched for bones and fossils in the sand and we even searched for dinos in sand (crushed graham crackers) and dirt (chocolate pudding) during Cook-ing Day.
Dr. Seuss was here, there, and everywhere. It tickled when everyone had their foot painted for our class "Foot Book". We had a silly socks day (Fox in Sox), made festive fish(One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish). Azul(blue) was our color of the month. Mr. Jeff taught the Threes and the Fours about Forgiveness. Music-in-the-Box visited all classes too.
A Word from the Fabulous Fours . . . A Word from the Fabulous Fours . . . A Word from the Fabulous Fours . . . A Word from the Fabulous Fours . . . The beginning of March we concluded our unit on the Five Senses. Then, "Once Upon A Time"..... the Fours began our Fairy Tales Unit! Imaginations were soaring! Jack in The Beanstalk was a favorite and playing with beans in the sen-sory table too. We learned about the letter T & made treasures and Q is for queen. We played with a giant duplo castle & smaller castles, castle blocks & Lincoln logs. We dressed up like kings and queens and created some wonderful pup-pet shows too. We learned some valuable lessons from a few of Aesop's Fables. The highlight of the month though was attending the Marriott Theatre's production of "How Can You Run With A Shell On Your Back?"- an Aesop's
Fables musical.
A Word about Animal Adventures . . . A Word about Animal Adventures . . . A Word about Animal Adventures . . . A Word about Animal Adventures . . . The end of March concluded our first session of this new class. It was a success! We learned about polar region and animals for seven weeks
Some of the animals included: Emperor penguins, Blue Whales, Arctic Foxes, Waddell Seals, Walrus, Arctic Terns, and Polar Bears! It was quite an adventure each week exploring the ani-
mals, playing games, doing experiments, crafts, and creative snacks too. We learned about blubber and used Crisco and a glove, we painted like seals & used socks on our hands for flippers, we melted icebergs with salt and eyedroppers of liquid watercolors, and we did a sink & float experiment (did you know seals have special air sacs in their throats they blow up so they can float when they sleep). We played "Polar Bears and Seals" on the Arctic Tundra outside of Grace. We were glad there was so much snow! Be prepared to visit the Rain Forest next session!
