Our Lenten journey has led us to Easter Sunday and the resurrection of our
Savior, Jesus Christ. Before stepping down, Our Holy Father, Pope Bene-
dict, shared with us that ,Faith tells us that God has given His Son for our
sakes and gives us victorious certainty that it is really true. God is love! ...
Faith, which sees the love of God revealed in the pierced heart of Jesus on
the Cross, gives rise to love… (and) when we make room for the love of
God, then we become more like Him.”
As always, our faculty and staff are blessed to be able to share this very spe-
cial time of year with you and your children. We hope that through our daily
prayers, weekly Masses, Eucharistic Adoration, the Stations of the Cross,
religion classes and the almsgiving we have participated in through the rice
bowls for Catholic Relief Services, we have all drawn closer to Christ this
Lenten season.
May the joy of the Risen Christ renew you and fill you and your family with
much peace and happiness. Happy Easter from
our faculty and staff.
Yours in Christ,
Dennis Mullahy
Principal

Congratulations to Jackson Brown who was nominated to be Kid
of the Week. Jackson is a student in Mr Sullivan’s 5th grade. After
talking about Random Acts of Kindness , Jackson purchased a
bag of chips from a vending machine . He left the chips in there
and included a note for the next person telling them to enjoy a
snack on him!
Congratulations to Channel 6 Kid of the Week!

St. Pius X Students Helping Students
Two years ago, the St. Pius X School and prayer community reached out to the children
in Haiti who had nowhere to attend school after the devastating earthquake there. Pierre-
Louis Joizil, a young gentleman whose college was also destroyed by the earthquake, was
invited by Siena College to finish his studies there.
Upon graduation, Pierre-Louis moved back to Haiti where the Holy Spirit called on him
to build a new school for some of the young people in his homeland. Through the generos-
ity of Siena College, Christ our Light Parish and other generous donors, including St.
Pius X School, St. Gabriel’s School in Haiti came to life.
In August of 2012, St. Gabriel’s opened its doors to 116 students, some of whom walk
miles each day to attend. At present, it costs families $300.00 a year or $25 to month to
send a child to St. Gabriel’s. Through our school’s “Hats for Haiti” days and “Hoops for
Haiti” events, we have been able to provide much needed scholarship money for the
school.
Our students and staff look forward to giving even more young Haitians the opportunity
to attend school and enjoy the gift of learning. Look for some more school events on be-
half of St. Gabriel’s School, and thank you for your constant generosity to those in need.
Matthew 25:35-40 “For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and
you gave Me drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and
you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you
came to Me.””
“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You
hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You drink? 'And when did we
see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? 'And
when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?' "And the King
will answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did
it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to
Me.'“
Fun was had by all at the first annual dodge ball game. There were the Green Mean Jellybeans, Fusion, and the Hobos just to name a few. Graders of the Lost Ark, our faculty, won an exciting match against our 8th grade Fusion team.
Coolcat Entertainment provided the
music between games. Thank you

St. Pius Students Reach Out to Others
I will be sending physical and immunization forms home
with report cards for NEXT YEARS required physicals and
immunizations in order for parents to have these forms as
they make doctors appointments.
PHYSICALS New York State Education Law requires that each student receive a physi-
cal when entering a school district for the first time and again in grades K,
2, 4, and 7. Any physical exam during the twelve months prior to the com-
mencement of the school year that the physical is required in is acceptable.
ALL REQUIRED PHYSICALS ARE DUE BY OCTOBER 1. Dental
forms are not required at this time. If your child has a physical scheduled
this spring, physical forms can be turned in ANYTIME before the end of
the school year or during the summer. Please mark correspondence to the
attention of the school nurse. If your child receives medication at school, a
new written doctors order and parent permission is needed each year and
can be obtained in the spring but have the doctor write that the order is for
the next school year.
IMMUNIZATIONS
All incoming 6th graders who are 11 years old need to have proof of Tdap
(tetanus, diptheria, acellular pertussis) immunization, as required by
New York State, PRIOR to entering school in September. 10-year-old
students who are entering 6th grade will not be required to receive Tdap
vaccine but will be tracked by the school nurse and must be immunized
when they turn 11 years old.
Please turn in any health related paperwork directly to the health office.
Please call the health office with any concerns or questions.
