Volume VII, Issue IIII April, 2013
Stellar Month of Fundraising at 2643!
If you haven’t been into the club for a while, you are really missing out. March was filled with fun, friendship and fraternalism. A lot of money was raised for charity and a lot of first-class meals were enjoyed by both our members and guests alike. The Surf and Turf dinner held March 1, was very well attended. Between the dinner and
raffles, $750.00 was raised for the West Seattle Food Bank. The dinner was amazing and No Left Turn rocked the house. A debt of gratitude is owed to the hardwork-ing volunteers that truly make these functions possible and thank you to everyone who supported this great event by attending dinner and purchasing raffle tickets. “Thanks to all the clam chowder lovers, $300.00 was raised for the Stan Murray Kidney Foundation on March 4. I would like to acknowledge the following as a fine and respected crew; Gayle Holmes, Shirley Stubben, Gary Cady, Aggie Keltner, Mary Cor-rigan and as always, all my love to Tom Johnson. Also, thank you to Gus Gustafson, Collins Parenteau, Mary Lou Wilkerson, Claire Conroy and Steve and Rhonda Wood for providing the acres of clams needed to make the chowder! Save the date: Annual Bud Niemi Tribute—Clam Chowder Dinner, March 4, 2014.” -Diane Niemi /chairman
And last but not least, the Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner, held March 16, raised
$1,035 for Walk MS. “My heartfelt appreciation to all of the dedicated volunteers that made this dinner a success! Tammy Beauvais, Gary Cady, Linda Fittro, Gayle Holmes, Amy McGrath, Shirley Stubben and Ronnie Toma. Also, thank you to Diane Niemi for helping with Ruben sandwiches on the 18th and to Deborah VanRyn for her kind jewelry donation used for the raffle.” -Dan White/chairman Remember, meals are open to the public. Invite your friends, co-workers and/or neighbors down to the club. Show them how much fun we have here, and chances are, they will want to join us and become a member. Also, if you have any pictures taken during club events, please share them on our West Seattle Eagle Facebook page. Let’s show the entire world how much fun we have raising money for charity!
Membership Survey
In November and December, the Grand Aerie Strate-gic Planning Com-mittee, chaired by P.G.W.P. and Grand Treasurer Jim West, conducted a survey of F.O.E. members. The survey results are now available to all members in the Resources section of our Members-Only website as a PDF. The Committee would like to thank all members who participated.

My Dear Brothers and Sisters,
As I write this column, I will have 4 short meetings left, as your Worthy President. It has been an honor to sit in
this chair, mindful of the extremely talented men who served before me. I have been made a better President be-
cause of them, and because of the mentorship and coaching of our Madam President. Their service, and Amy’s
have been a huge influence upon me, and I am grateful that I have had this opportunity to serve.
I also know that the future of our Club is in good, strong hands with our incoming Worthy President and Madam
President, Zane Fitterer and Linda Fittro. They have been exemplary Vice-Presidents and will carry the mantle of
“People, Helping People” proudly.
To that end, officers to help round out Zane’s team are much needed as nominations and elections are upon us.
Please consider becoming an officer of our Club. It is a worthwhile, and wholly fulfilling, investment of your time
as members of our Aerie. Our member number for our Club, are amongst the TOP in our District. Yet, the number
of actual members that I see at our meetings is much thinner that I would like. We are a vibrant enterprise, and
having new officers with new insights, opinions, and points of view will continue to ensure the success of our Club.
Please remember that the Art Ehrmann Cancer Auction featuring the amazing band HotBox, will take place on
Saturday April 20, 2013. This is a great event and I encourage you all to attend. I hear that there might even be Jell
-O shots present….
April also brings the return of Mariner Baseball. Opening night is Monday April 1. Hot Dogs will be served. It
also coincides with our weekly Monday Drawing for the King of Hearts. Come on down and watch the M’s open the
season with a win versus last year’s American League West Champion, Oakland Athletics.
Help support both the West Seattle Eagles Auxiliary and their charities by ordering a BEAUTIFUL hanging basket
today. 1 for $30 or 2 for $50. Choose from a shade loving fuchsia basket or a sun loving annual basket. Order dead-
line is May 2nd with delivery the first week of June. See a Sister or the sign-up sheet in the Lounge for additional
details.
Thank you all again for all that you do each and every day. I look forward to seeing who steps up to fill our open
officer positions and in discussing with you any question that you have related to becoming an officer.
Fraternally Yours, Paul Leonardo Worthy President

Brothers and Sisters, The Auxiliary has a few springtime fundraisers that we hope you will be excited about.
First, the Auxiliary is selling gorgeous hanging baskets, in two varieties, shipped directly from the greenhouses of
DeGoede Brothers, in Sumner. The two varieties are a fuchsia “shade” basket and a garden “sun basket. The bas-
kets are selling for $30 each or $50 for two, mix or match. They are of premium quality and will grow to an im-
pressive size if given a little love and water. These gorgeous baskets retail at well over $40 at local shops and nurs-
eries. Money needs to be collected at the time you order and any checks need to be written to the West Seattle Ea-
gles Auxiliary. The Auxiliary has set a lofty goal of selling 250 baskets. We know we can accomplish this goal with
your help. Buy a basket for a friend to brighten their day, for a neighbor or even for your childs favorite teacher as
an end of the school year “thank you”. Ask your co-workers, friends and/or family members if they would be in-
terested in supporting our fantastic Auxiliary and the charitable work we do by adding a bit of color to their life.
Orders can be placed in the lounge or by contacting any Aerie or Auxiliary Officer. Deadline for orders is May 2nd.
Baskets will be delivered to the Aerie during the first week of June, with an exact date to be determined.
Second, Auxiliary sister Viktoria Lamothe, is hosting a online Scentsy party benefiting the Art Ehrmann Cancer
Fund. The following comes from Viktoria, "Hello West Seattle Eagles, family and friends. I am doing a Scentsy
fundraiser for the Art Ehrmann Cancer Benefit and I am donating all of my commission (20%) from now until
April 20th. Currently the Campus Collection is 40% off making the warmers just $21. Get your favorite college
warmer now. Choose the West Seattle Eagles party on my website at www.viktorialamothe.scentsy.us ."
I would like to congratulate sister Holly Gregg on becoming District 5 Eagle of the Month, for the month of March. Holly goes above and beyond her job as Auxiliary Secretary and her dedication to both our Auxiliary and commu-nity are second to none. Thank you Holly for all you do, it is greatly appreciated. Also, a huge THANK YOU to new Auxiliary member, Michelle Murillo-Renn. Michelle spent countless hours sand-ing, repairing and repainting the officer stations, as well as, cleaning and reorganizing the multi-purpose room. Your commitment to bettering our Aerie home is awe-inspiring. Just a reminder, the final reading and discussion of our Auxiliary By-Law changes will take place during our meet-ing, April 4. Member input is both welcome and encouraged.
Yours in Sisterhood, Amy McGrath Madam President

in our Aerie kitchen to prepare healthy and delicious dishes for everyone to take

occasionally, to talk about different aspects of nutrition and food. YUMMM!

The 4th Annual Art Ehrmann Cancer Benefit is just around the corner. Please be sure to mark your calendar for this event. We will have dinner, a silent and live auction plus live music by HOTBOX. We have already started to
collect some of the auction items and you won't want to miss out! Please note that due to the amount of space needed for our auction, we have simplified the dinner menu and decreased the cost.
There are many volunteers needed to support this event and we can still use some help. If you are available please
contact Jennifer Collins-Young at [email protected] or myself at [email protected].
Along with volunteers we are also looking for donations for our auction. If you have not already been contacted by one of our fabulous volunteers and have a donation for the event, please let Jennifer or myself know. Maybe you
have season tickets to a sporting event or a vacation home or timeshare. Or maybe you provide a professional service or have goods that you sell. Please consider donating to this worthy cause!

Hooray! Our newsletter, The West Seattle Talon Tribune,
placed second in its class in the 2012 Grand Aerie Bulletin
Contest. This year’s Grand Bulletin Contest included over
one hundred and fifty submissions, in nine different cate-
gories. The categories are based on combined membership
of each Aerie and Auxiliary.
If you are receiving a printed copy of the newsletter and
wish to get the online copy only, if you receive more than
one newsletter per household, or have a change of address,
please send a email to [email protected].
Include your first and last name in
the text of your email so we can link
it in our MMS system. The Aerie
saves around $12 a year, per mem-
ber, for every issue not printed and
mailed out. Questions? Please con-
tact Amy McGrath or either the
Aerie or Auxiliary Secretary.
