PRODUCER STATEMENTSuper Span CB35 Ceiling Battens are manufactured by Rollformers 2000 Ltd using G250/Z275 galvanised steel with a base metal thickness of 0.55mm, and are produced in accordance with NZS 3441: 1978.

Extent and limitation of usage

Super Span CB35 Ceiling Battens have been designed for use as ceiling battens to support Fibrous Plaster Gypsum Plaster Board attached to ceiling joists and the bottom chord of roof trusses. They are intended for spans not exceeding 1200mm and spacings not exceeding 600mm. Super Span CB35 Ceiling Battens have a limited ability to support loads. Where there is a requirement for point loading, extra strength can be achieved by positioning additional lengths of batten as necessary. Super Span CB35 Ceiling Battens are not intended to support loads during construction that are more than the in-use ceiling support. Super Span CB35 Ceiling Battens will not support the weight of a person. Super Span CB35 Ceiling Battens have not been tested for use in fire-rated ceiling construction. The Z275 grade (275g/m2 Zinc Coating) used in the manufacture of Super Span CB35 Ceiling Battens is to be used for internal installations only. These areas must be protected from exposure to moisture or from other corrosive environments. Super Span CB35 Ceiling Battens should not be used in contact with chemically treated materials such as tanalised timber or treated insulation products in the presence of moisture.

Note: Before commencing any installations using Super Span CB35 Ceiling Battens, the user must refer to the environmental limitations, procedures for handling, storage, installation and maintenance referred to in this document. These limitations and procedures must be strictly observed. Failure to do so is likely to result in a reduction in the product design performance.

Product handling, storage, installation and maintenance requirements

Super Span CB35 Ceiling Battens must be handled, stored and installed using the procedures outlined in the Ceiling Brochure. The following factors can limit the performance of Super Span CB35 Ceiling Battens:

• Site storage that allows the product to get wet and/or exposed to moisture during construction.

• handling, storage or installation or by other trade work.Damage to the prole section or surface during

• Installation on batten spans that are excessive for the imposed loads during or after construction.

• to the primary structure, or to fix the ceiling linings to the Use of insufcient or incorrect fasteners to x the batten

batten.

Prior to installation, battens should be inspected to ensure the surfaces have not been in contact with chemicals. If contact has occurred and surface corrosion is evident, the affected area should be treated by cleaning and spot priming to the appropriate manufacturer’s recommendations.

The cause of the contact must be identified and corrected to avoid further corrosion of the Ceiling Batten.

Usage outside guidelines

Where CB range of Ceiling Battens are being used outside the limitations and procedures given in the Ceiling Batten Brochure and this Producer Statement together with any doubt as to the handling, storage or installation of this product, written approval should be obtained from the manufacturer for any such specific project and prior to the project commencing.

NZBC compliance

Use of the Super Span CB35 Ceiling Batten in accordance with the stated guidelines and limitations thereby complies with the following clauses:

B1 Structure

B2 Durability (B.S. 0024: 1973 and past history of galvanised steel products in dry interior environments indicate a life of 50 years can be reasonably expected.)

I’ve been using Rollformers metal ceiling battens for over 4 years. You can always rely on a superior batten that doesn’t move or shrink, this helps the Gib Fixer give a level flat finish.

I generally order cut to length so you only pay for what you need and the notched ends make for quick installations. Battens come up to 6.5 or even 7 metres in length, removing the need for a join in a large room - this helps to alleviate any cracking.

Best of all they deliver on time and ring if there are any problems.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONRollformers direct-fix Super Span Suspended Ceiling System provides a simple method of building both fire rated and non-fire rated ceilings. By using Rollformers steel channels and other primary rails complete with clips, ceiling membranes can be directly and positively fixed using self-drilling and tapping recessed headed screws. This results in a cost effective and dimensionally stable ceiling or wall plane, for any architectural solution.

FIRE RATINGSAll Rollformers steel components are non combustible (BS 476 Part 4 AS1530:1990). All direct-fix ceiling components are manufactured by Galv Steel G250 Z275 NZS 3441.

COMPLIANCE WITH THE NEW ZEALAND BUILDING CODEProvided the Super-Span Suspended Ceiling System is installed in accordance with detail provided in this brochure, all requirements as laid down by New Zealand Standard 4203, 1992 Table 3.4.1. for non-habitable roof spaces in domestic dwellings will be met.

SPECIFICATIONAt the spans in Pic.1, the ceiling battens will support all proprietary ceilings with the addition of a 0.5 Kpa line load, hence meeting NZS 4203 : 1992 Table 3.4.1. Category 1, Domestic 1.1. All deections are within 1/500 of span i.e. 2.5mm for 1200mm span and 2mm for 900mm span. For specific design requirements involving extraordinary loading, e.g. tting heavy lights, contact the Rollformers Technical Team. All testing has been carried out by John Yolland & Associates Ltd, Consulting Engineers, Auckland.

• 25 x 6 Type S for 9.5mm board

• 32 x 6 Type S for 12mm board

Adhesives may be used as recommended by the lining manufacturer.
