1 APRIL 2015 ISSUE 90 KELLY’S INTRODUCTION As ever, WFN Head Office has been working super hard to move WFN forwards in 2015. As the first quarter concludes, I have to say that our hard work is paying off. Our renewal rate is increasing, meaning more and more members are happy within our network. The number of new companies joining has increased: 12 new members in the past 3 months alone. Plus we’re very happy to know that we’ll be meeng many more delegates this year in Beijing than last year. With 240 delegates set to join us in China, that’s an increase of 60% on last year...a fantasc increase. Almost 60% of the WFN Membership are aending. This is a much higher percentage than recent years. I hope that 2015 has started well for you too. I run three businesses and deal with a lot of companies throughout the world. With my networks and maral arts school combined, my teams and I manage 700+ memberships on a weekly basis. One thing I’ve learnt in my years of business is that there are the kinds of people that respond to everything and respond swiſtly - the teams in my businesses are like this. The only me we don’t respond swiſtly is if we’re asleep (me difference) or if the email never arrived. Then there are the people that never reply, are never at the end of the telephone call…how they connue to succeed is beyond me. To thrive in business, a mely response is essenal. Your fellow members will just move on to the next company in your country if they can’t get hold of you. That said, do always give your partner the benefit of the doubt on the first mail; emails do go astray/never arrive for some weird cyber world reasons. Ask Debbie to follow up with a call on your behalf, or give them a call yourself to check the email has been received. Although the [email protected] exist and are convenient when pressed for me, the personal touch is always a winner. If you have me, mail individually. The meeng is an excellent opportunity for you to build a personal rapport with your fellow partners. I can’t help but bow to those of you whom make the effort to aend the meeng; you truly get what networking is about. Looking forward to seeing you all there. KELLY’S INTRODUCTION As ever, WFN Head Office has been working super hard to move WFN forwards in 2015. As the first quarter concludes, I have to say that our hard work is paying off. Our renewal rate is increasing, meaning more and more members are happy within our network. The number of new companies joining has increased: 12 new members in the past 3 months alone. Plus we’re very happy to know that we’ll be meeting many more delegates this year in Beijing than last year. With 240 delegates set to join us in China, that’s an increase of 60% on last year...a fantastic increase. Almost 60% of the WFN Membership are attending. This is a much higher percentage than recent years. I hope that 2015 has started well for you too. I run three businesses and deal with a lot of companies throughout the world. With my networks and martial arts school combined, my teams and I manage 700+ memberships on a weekly basis. One thing I’ve learnt in my years of business is that there are the kinds of people that respond to everything and respond swiftly - the teams in my businesses are like this. The only time we don’t respond swiftly is if we’re asleep (time difference) or if the email never arrived. Then there are the people that never reply, are never at the end of the telephone call…how they continue to succeed is beyond me. To thrive in business, a timely response is essential. Your fellow members will just move on to the next company in your country if they can’t get hold of you. That said, do always give your partner the benefit of the doubt on the first mail; emails do go astray/never arrive for some weird cyber world reasons. Although the [email protected] exist and are convenient when pressed for time, the personal touch is always a winner. If you have time, mail individually. 5 TOP TIPS FOR NETWORKING AT A MEETING With our Meeting fast approaching, I thought it would be wise to provide some networking tips. If you ask a freight forwarder why they attend meetings, meeting people is undoubtedly at the top of most people’s list. Yet how often have you left an event feeling that you made few or no useful connections? Here are five top tips to help you develop relationships, create business opportunities and get the most out of the experience.

1. Book your appointments in advance. > Decide in advance whom you want to meet, before people’s schedules fill up. Our Meeting Manager system is designed to allow you to easily book one-to-one meetings with your fellow Members, making the most of your time at the Conference. 2. Be prepared > Carry business cards, a notebook, and a pen. If possible, put your picture on your business card. We’ve all had those moments of going through stacks of business cards and not remembering who they came from. Make it easy for people to remember you. > Create value with your card. You could put a link to your website, blog, or social media accounts. It’s a nice gesture and it sometimes gets people talking about you. And of course, show them how much you care about your Network by putting WFN’s logo on it. > Take branded gifts that people will use on their desk, so that your company’s logo makes a prolonged impression. 3. Make the most of your one-to-one meetings. > Research the company you’re meeting in advance, enabling you to prepare engaging questions that take advantage of the available time. > Remember to listen. Keep an ear out for things you can help with, or people you can introduce somebody who might be beneficial to them if you’re not personally suited. This includes those at the meeting, as well as other people you might know at home. 4. Be open during social/break times. > When you walk into the meeting room, take the time before the presentation begins to say hello to the people seated around you. Once you have said something as simple as “hello”, it will be easier to talk with them later in the day if you see them again. > Put your technology away. Do not run to your phone, BlackBerry, or laptop at every break. Instead, look out for people who are not talking to others and engage in conversation with them. Make the most of the opportunity to broaden your network. 5. Follow up after the meeting > Follow up with people through e-mail or phone calls. Book out time post-conference to do this. Respond to everything. Nothing worse than meeting somebody, promising you’ll be in touch and then not hearing back. When you have committed your time, energy and funds to attending, make sure you make the most of it.

MEETING MANAGER Upon receipt of your Booking Fee, you will be assigned your login details for the specially designed WFN Meeting Manager Site. The WFN Meeting Manager will once again provide all Members with an excellent meeting tool. The system will be open early January 2015. Simply pay your Attendance Fee and start making your appointments. This feature benefits our delegates by enabling you to book appointments with your fellow WFN members in a timely fashion. Decide who you wish to meet during the one-to-one meeting sessions; each meeting is then given a table number so that you can easily follow your timetable. You are also able to view your own individual schedule for the event online. It will be available at check-in for you in Beijing. 15, 30 OR 45 MINUTE MEETING SLOTS The Meeting Agenda has 42 official meeting slots. To provide you with a meeting forum that suits and benefits you, you are free to choose whether you meet a company for 15 or 30 minutes, or even longer. All you need to do is to book 2-3 Meeting slots with the same company, if you would prefer a longer meeting. If you feel that 42 Meetings is too many, then block out some appointments as unavailable and start late, or finish early to get some rest. The harder you work, the more appointments you attend, the better the benefits for your company. Don't forget that if you send two delegates for your company, each person can see half of the WFN Members each - this is the easiest way to ensure that all Delegates get to know your company. VISA REQUIREMENTS The vast majority of Delegates will require a visa for China. Please contact your nearest travel agent or Chinese Embassy. Please ensure that you make your visa application long before our meeting to avoid any inconvenience. As with most visas, you require at least 6 months validity in your passport. View information here. Visa Letters are available to you. WFN Visa Letter | Host Visa Letter Attendance is key to a successful WFN Membership. Details can be found in the MEETING section of the Member Website.
