100% Customer Satisfaction

Friendly And Reliable Service‘Spring Clean’ your way to a healthier happier summer!

by Julie Hitchings Nutritionist at Inspiring Health

Would you like to achieve your goals and feel healthier, lighter and happier? Cleaning up your diet in time for summer could lead you along the pathway to success. We are constantly bombarded with advertisements promoting processed food that bears no resemblance to the original healthy, meal that it is replacing. Pre-made sources, meals and snacks are full of chemicals, flavourings, adulterated fats and sugar; a prime recipe for sub-optimal health and disease. Here are 6 simple steps for you to follow

1. Prepare and stock up on real food. Clean out your fridge and cupboards and stock up on fresh food in its most natural form.

2. Eat a rainbow of colours. Choose from a variety of different veg each week. Don’t stick to the same favourites.

3. Cut out wheat, dairy and sugar. This may be hard, but if you want to ditch the bulging stomach, these offenders need to go.

4. Eat only 3 meals a day Don’t snack and don’t overfill your plate. 5. No fad diets and don’t count calories 6. Sugar-laden drinks. Alcohol, fruit juices, flavoured water and fizzy drinks, all need

to go. Focus on water and herb teas. Call Inspiring Health on 01326 212112 to book a consultation with a Nutritionist and find out how to put together a healthy menu that suits you and your family. www.inspiringhealth.org.uk.

                                                 ABC’s  of  Sport

When  should  your  child  start  to  play  tennis?  Is  kicking  a  ball  around  at  a  young  age  all  they  are  capable  of?  At  what  age  will  they  be  able  to  understand  all  the  rules  and  be  able  to  use  these  skills?

Good  tennis  coaching  is  not  about  how  to  hit  a  ball.  It  is  about  teaching  children  how  to  use  their  bodies  in  more  efficient  ways.    Agility,  balance,  coordination  and  speed  are  the  building  blocks  for  all  sports.    At  The  Falmouth  Tennis  Company  we  teach  children  reception  skills  through  a  variety  of  fun  games.  These  skills  are  transferable  to  a  multitude  of  other  activities.    Then  we  concentrate  on  projection  skills  through

more  games  making  sure  they  learn  to  use  all  their  muscles  to  throw,  hit  and

kick  reducing  the  chance  of  injury  down  the  line.  Then  we  put  it  all  together  and  teach  them  the  rules  and  let  them  play.  We  run  group  classes  for  different  ages  all  through  the  week  and  match  play  sessions  on  Saturdays  where  they  come  and  play  for  free.  When  do  we  start  them?  3  years  of  age!  www.falmouthtenniscompany.com

CORNWALL  COUNTRY  LINK  A  social  group  that  is  cheap  to  join,  has  a  large  mixed  membership  and  has  up  to  150  different  events  a  year,  does  such  a  group  exist?

Well  yes  it  does  and  it’s  been  in  Cornwall  for  thirty  years.    Cornwall  Country  Link  was  initially  formed  when  a  group  of  Young  Farmers,  due  to  age,  had  to  leave  their  clubs  and  the  consequence  being  they  lost  their  social  life.    So  they  formed  Country  Link  and  there  are  clubs  all  over  the  Country.

Our  group  in  Cornwall  has  a  membership  of  100  people  and  they  are  from  a  variety  of  backgrounds  and  not  all  are  associated  with  the  countryside.    One  does  need  to  have  a  love  for  our  Cornish  land  and  its  heritage  because  a  lot  of  our  pursuits  are  focused  out  in  the  countryside  but  that’s  not  a  pre  requisite.  The  activities  are  organised  by  our  members  for  our  members  and  take  many  different  forms.  We  do  pride  ourselves  on  the  variety  of  each  quarter’s  programme.

There  are  usually  2-‐3  events  each  week  and  these  vary  from  a  Sunday  lunch  at  a  local  pub  followed  by  a  walk,  it  could  be  a  visit  to  a  theatre,  maybe  a  night  out  dancing  or  a  lecture  at  the  Maritime  museum  in  Falmouth.  The  events  are  many  and  varied  and  we  very  much  welcome  members  to  put  on  things  that  they  like  doing  and  others  can  discover  new  pursuits.

We  also  enjoy  large  formal  functions,  this  past  year  we  had  a  summer  Ball  in  a  very  nice  hotel  near  Exeter.    Over  60  members  attended  and  spent  the  weekend  at  the  hotel,  we  had  walks  in  the  area,  a  visit  to  Exeter  and  the  Ball  on  the  Saturday  evening.    It  was  a  posh  frock  and  black  tie  affair  and  a  chance  to  put  on  your  fine  clothes  and  have  a  lovely  evening.    We  also  try  hard  to  raise  monies  for  various  charities.

Only  just  recently  held  was  our  Christmas  party  in  a  hotel  at  Newquay.    Again  it  was  a  very  well  attended  function  and  another  opportunity  to  put  on  your  smart  clothes  and  have  a  very  pleasant  evening.

As  a  national  organisation  we  have  two  National  Weekends  in  different  parts  of  the  country,  the  host  clubs  organise  everything  and  our  members  enjoy  these  events  very  much,  they  are  always  very  popular  and  the  tickets  sell  quickly.    If  you  are  travelling  across  the  country  you  could  always  take  the  opportunity  to  visit  another  club  in  that  part  of  the  country  and  make  new  friends.

Please  visit  the  clubs  website  and  discover  for  yourself  all  of  the  fun  activities  that  we  get  up  too  throughout  the  year.  www.country-‐link.org.uk

We  look  forward  and  warmly  welcome  new  members  to  Country  Link,  come  and  give  us  a  try  before  joining.

Contact  Valda  on  01872  865038  for  further  information.

The Filling Station Meeting on 15th February was graced by seventy-five people who once again were well looked after by the warm welcome of the Penmorvah Hotel, excellent worship music from the Budock group, a life changing story from Ben and a talk from Lucy Larkin. Lucy gave us an insightful and encouraging talk on' The Glory of the Cross'. Although it concentrated on the cross, Jesus is the real central figure of the story. How can an instrument of incredible savagery, cruelty and torture be glorious? There are many things in Christianity that don't seem to make sense at first sight, things that are incongruous, paradoxical and mysterious. Christianity is not a straight line of simple facts – some things have deep meaning. It takes a good teacher to try to bring a deeper awareness. Lucy is such a one. The cross was not used by early Christians, they were too close to its present terror, it only became common as a symbol once the Emperor Constantine used it on his soldiers' shields at the battle of the Milvian Bridge in 312AD Lucy gave a short history of Jesus, showing how he understood the tangles of humanity with all our flaws. He healed people and set them free. He taught them and fed them. He then called them to a better way. In doing all this good work he gained the enmity of the authorities whom he seemed to be challenging. Eventually this led to his trial under Pontius Pilate and after a vicious flogging, to his death on the cross. So far, so human, but Jesus was also God in the flesh which comes out so plainly in the Bible. The whole episode of the cross boils down to one word. Love. As St John writes “ God so loved the world, that he gave his only son so that we might live”. Love is the heart beat of the universe and we join in that continual love song when we pray. Christians, for millennia have tried to make sense of the cross. It is like a diamond, multifaceted and profound and even then we make approximations at its full mystery and depth. On the cross is the defeat of evil, of death itself. Through the cross people are redeemed and reconciled, brought back to God. Through the cross people are saved, they go free. On the cross, Christ took our sin and our blame. He paid the price for what we have done. Though we see only in part, we can still see the wonder and even glory of the cross of Jesus and know that it was not the end, as our Saviour still guides and comforts us. The evening ended with prayer and worship. Everyone went home joyously, filled with the Spirit.

Messy  Church  Celebration  February  2016  The  theme  of  the  February  Messy  Church  Celebration  was  “Sharing  a  special  meal  together”.     After   the   introduction   and   welcome,   the   Open   the   Book   team   gave   a  dramatic   presentation   of   Jesus   sharing   his   last   meal   with   his   disciples.     The  activities   which   followed   linked   sharing   special   meals   with   the   Passover,   when  symbolic  food  is  eaten  to  remember  the  Exodus  of  the  Children  of  Israel  from  Egypt.

The   activities   included:    Making   flat   bread  which   reminded   everyone  how  during  the  original  Passover  there  was  no  time  to  wait  for  yeast  to  rise,  so  bread  had  to  be

made  as  quickly  as  possible.

Making  sour   faces,  which  we  all  did  when  we   tasted   the  bitter  herbs  and   lemons.  This   is  a  part  of  the  Jewish  Passover  meal  to  remind  people  of  the  hard  times  during  the  Exodus.

Assembling  prayer  cubes  and  writing  Grace  Prayers  on  them  to  remind  us  to  thank  God  for  our  food.

Printing   potato   cuts   on   place   mats   to   celebrate   sharing  meals  together.

Making  a  door  and  its  frame  through  which  we  all  walked  on  our  way  to  our  food  to  remind  us  of  our  own  homes.

We  then  enjoyed  a  meal  together  of  Matzos  and  toppings  followed  by  fresh  fruits,  before  our  final  prayers  and  song.

A  big  Thank  You  to  everyone  who  made  the  afternoon  such  a  lovely  time  of  Christian  family  fellowship.  The  next  Messy  Church  is  on  Sunday  20th  March  at  4pm.  St  Francis  Primary  School,  Falmouth.

‘The  most  exciting  development  in  renewable  energy  since  the  solar  panel'  goes  public.

Award-‐winning   South   West   based   company,   WITT   Ltd,   is   to   change   the  face   of   renewable   energy   forever   with   its   ground-‐breaking   new   energy  harvesting   technology   -‐   and   launched   with   its   Crowdcube   raise   on   7th  March.

The  WITT   is   the  only  device   in  the  world  that  can  capture  energy  from  all  movement  and  turn   it  into  electricity.  No  other  energy  system  can  exploit  the  full  spectrum  of  movement,  enabling  it  to  harvest  power  from  water  (sea,  river  or  tidal),  wind,  human  or  animal  motion.    "The  WITT  is  the  most  exciting  development  in  the  renewable  energy  sector  since  the  solar  panel,"  says  WITT  Chairman,  Admiral  Sir  James  Burnell-‐Nugent  KCB,  CBE.    On   7th   March   2016,   WITT   Ltd   launched   a   £750,000   equity   raise   through   the   world's   leading  crowdfunding  platform,  Crowdcube,   to   take   the  WITT   technology   into  manufacturing   for   its   first  application  -‐  the  200-‐Watt  Marine  WITT.    The   Marine   WITT   will   provide   autonomous   power   for   marine   applications,   such   as   large-‐scale  survival  units,  desalination,  offshore  fish  farms  and  a  range  of  products  that  need  a  constant  power  source,  even  in  the  harshest  of  environments.  As  well  as  providing  the  first  units  for  sale  it  will  also  establish  the  WITT's  capability  to  generate  large-‐scale  ocean  power.    The  WITT's  multi   award  winning   technology   is   patented   and   has   the   support   of   global   partners  Schaeffler,  Ricardo,  and  Gibbs  Gears.  It  also  has  the  support  of  the  Universities  of  Bristol,  Plymouth  and  Southampton.  In  addition,  WITT  won  ‘pitch@palace'  in  October  2015  after  HRH  Duke  of  York  saw  the  technology  at  Plymouth  University's  wave  tank.    The  inventor  of  the  WITT,  Martin  Wickett  said:  "The  WITT's  key  advantages  over  other  wave  energy  converters,   or   WECs,   are   that   it   captures   energy   from   chaotic   motion,   in   any   combination   -‐  clockwise,  anti-‐clockwise,  up  and  down,  and  back  and  forth  (6  degrees)  and  the  sealed  unit  greatly  reduces   maintenance   costs.   We   believe   this   makes   it   the   optimum   technology   to   generate  renewable  electricity  from  the  sea."    Having  the  support  of  global  key  partners  with  expertise   in  designing  and  deploying  wave  power  technologies   at   sea   will   allow  WITT   Ltd   to   put   the   technology   into   action   and   to   bring   robust  products  to  market.    WITT's  chairman,  Admiral  Sir   James  Burnell-‐Nugent  KCB,  CBE,   former  Commander-‐in-‐Chief  of   the  Royal  Navy  and  Royal  Marines,  said:  "There  is  movement  all  around  us  and  being  able  to  convert  energy  from  that  movement  into  usable  electric  power  is  a  truly  ground-‐breaking  development.    "The   constant   movement   of   the   sea   means   that   WITT's   pioneering   technology   has   immediate  applications  in  the  maritime  sector  and  WITT  has  secured  global  support  to  bring  this  technology  to  market.   The   technology   is   remarkable,   the   opportunities   unbounded,   the   potential   as   great   as  one's  imagination."    WITTs  can  be  built   from  centimetres   to  metres  and  could  be  used   in  huge  range  of  applications,  not   only   in  marine   but   in   all   areas   where   there   is  motional   energy.   In   the   future,  WITTs   could  collect  Natural  Occurring  Motional  Energy  (NOME)  from  humans  or  animals  to  power  a  wide  range  of  consumer  items  as  a  portable  power  solution.  The  Crowdcube  campaign  went  live  on  Monday  7th  March  on  www.crowdcube.com/wittenergy
