Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to the final term of the school year. I hope you all had an excellent and peaceful
Easter break. This particular term is especially challenging for our Year 11 students as their
resilience and drive will be tested to the utmost as the GCSE examinations begin in earnest on
14th May. It is crucial that all students facing external examinations are now stepping up to more
personal revision as well as using the many additional opportunities provided for them in school.
Staff are continuing to offer revision sessions and exam boosters and students should now be fully
committed to these and to the extra revision they are doing at home. We thank parents/carers in
anticipation of the support we know you will provide in encouraging and cajoling our students
which is vital in the final run up to the GCSE examinations.
Regards, Rob Rogers, Principal
“Livo’s Got Talent”
Our fantastic “Livo’s Got Talent” show
took place this month. Ten acts made it through the audition process
and battled it out to be crowned the winner of “Livo’s Got Talent”.
There was a whole variety of talent on show including two magic acts,
a blindfolded pianist, a solo dance piece and several singers and
groups. Our audience and panel had a tough job on their hands to
choose the winner but the Year 8 band “Booker and The Boys” were
crowned champions. Well done to everyone who took part including
our orchestra, choir and dancers who provided some fantastic
entertainment whilst the votes were being counted! And, of course,
let’s not forget the performance by our very own “Spice Girls”.
An enjoyable night was had by all!
April 2018 Review
Belgium Trip
On 4th April, 44 students and four members of staff departed
for the Euro Space Centre in Belgium. After a 14 hour coach
journey they spent two nights at the Space Centre taking part
in a range of activities which simulated astronaut training.
Students (and some very excited staff) had a go on the
multi-axis chair developed by NASA, which aims to
disorientate potential astronauts. Students had to
concentrate in order to carry out a written exercise while on
the chair (easier said than done for many). Other activities
included a moonwalk simulator and a two hour “mission to
space” simulator where the mission was to successfully launch
an orbiter, have it dock with the ISS and return the shuttle
and crew back to Earth safely. Our students did so well they
even received a congratulatory message from the President of
the United States!! Overall it was a fantastic experience and
great fun was had by all staff and students.
Spanish Exchange
"Twelve people in our Year group took part in the exchange to Elgoibar for
11 days. We stayed in our Spanish exchange partner’s home. We went on
many trips such as: Bilbao to the Guggenheim museum, Guernika Peace
Museum, San Sebastian and Deba with our exchange partners. We
experienced the lives and culture of Basque people many of whom have
become our close friends. Although it was daunting at first, our favourite
moments were going to the beach and getting ice cream and having meals at
the local restaurant called Pilon. The experience has been very memorable
and has helped improve our listening, speaking and cultural understanding.
We can’t wait for our exchange partners to come and stay with us in July!"

Year 9 Boys win the Echo Challenge Shield
The Litherland High School Year 9 boys’ football team have gone from
strength to strength this season and their latest success is winning the
Echo Challenge Shield. The team had to make it through several rounds
before taking on Bebington Sports College in the final, which took place at
Walton Hall Park. It was a nail-biting final with Litherland 1-0 down at half
time but “Man of the Match” Matty Humphreys pulled off an amazing
comeback, scoring two goals in the final eight minutes to take the title. The boys will now play against Cardinal Heenan or SFX/De la Salle in the
Echo Cup final which takes place at Liverpool FC Academy on 14th May.
Captain, Scott Heath, said ‘I’m really proud of all the lads. They have
played with such professionalism throughout every match. We’re really
excited to be playing in the final of the Echo Cup and getting the chance
to play at the Liverpool FC Academy.” Matty Humphreys was awarded
“Man of the Match” for his amazing two goals, which took the team into
the final. He said ‘I was made up to score the two goals especially against
such a good side. We were 1 - 0 down at half time and to score two goals
in the last eight minutes really was a great experience.” We are very
proud of them and wish them all the best in the final on 14th May.
We will let you know how they get on.
