5-Point Acupuncture – 5 Point Protocol Acupuncture is a treatment used to reduced cravings, increase feelings of calmness, help sleep, reduce agitation, provide relief from emotional trauma, promote emotional balance, and/or discover inner quiet and strength. 5 Point Protocol Acupuncture consists of receiving 5 pins in each ear. Sign up with Erin at extension 4248.

*NEW* Art Not Shame - This closed group is available to all to speak back to the pressure to be perfect through a 10-week collaborative art-making experience. Led by professional artists, participants will experiment with both guided and independent art-making across multiple mediums (visual art, dance, sound, storytelling) in a supportive community. Participants will also have the opportunity to exhibit their “f*** perfect” art and stories. Sign up with Erin x.4248

Art with Heart– Art can touch the very deepest part of us where no words exist. This group is led by an Art Therapy student and provides members with a safe and compassionate space to artistically express themselves. Members will use paints, pastels and other media to create and share. No experience necessary.

Baking – This group is for anyone who loves to bake or just the idea of baking made simple with loads of fun to go with it. Good food, good conversation and good fun!

Back in the Saddle – An 8 week employment readiness program that takes place that the Horses At Heart Farm (17900 Dufferin St.), in which participants attend career readiness workshops once a week and also volunteer on the farm. Participants must apply for this program. Sign up with Nancy Gagnon at [email protected].

Career Café – Staff members from the employment program are available during this time for drop-in consultations regarding employment goals. Help is offered with job searching, résumé and cover letter writing, as well as career exploration.

Cooking – Our friends from the York Region Food Network will be teaching us how to cook delicious, healthy, and diverse meals – join us to learn and come hungry!

Community Volunteering - Discover your community in an exciting and meaningful way! In this group you can learn a new skill, connect with people, build your resume and contribute to the world around you. We will be in the community volunteering in groups with staff/volunteer support with different organizations – to learn more and sign up contact Shauna x.4230.

*NEW* Cool Technology @RHPL - CMHA and the Richmond Hill Public Library is excited to partner again with a new course which explores new technologies including: 3D Printing, Lego Robotics, Ozobots, and Little Bits Circuits. Sign up with Shauna x4230.

Drumming – Come discover and develop your inner rhythm in this hands-on drumming and percussion group experience. You will have the opportunity to learn basic rhythms, express yourself, and connect with others in rhythm. We also explore topics of mental health recovery through this experience. Most importantly, we have fun! No previous drumming experience required.

Expressive Movement - This inclusive, dance-based group is designed to reduce stress and explore imagination through the space around us. Participants of all levels and abilities are encouraged to come as they are.

Fun with Juicing - Learn how to make tasty and healthy juices as we sample new recipes every week! Plus, learn all about the health benefits of each fruit and veggie to make the most out of your juice!

Games – Come and play all different types of games – board games, cards, brainteasers and more!

Humble Tiger – Join the Employment Team in a three week experience as we discover the Humble Tiger; A guide to using self-compassion in Returning to Work. We will be exploring finding supports, how to fill out forms, and on the job stress relief tools including mindfulness and meditation! ** Closed group please call Erin to register at Extension 4248***

Job Search – Find out the latest techniques, tips and tricks for finding employment. Topics will include using social media in your job search, informal interviews, the “hidden” job market and cold calling employers. ** Closed group please call Erin to register at Extension 4248***

Mall Walk – Join us at Upper Canada Mall for a walk where you can browse store windows and stay indoors for your winter exercise. Contact Karen at 647-300-6796 for meeting spot.

Member’s Meeting - This is a celebration meeting, where we celebrate people’s successes as well as provide program updates. It is an opportunity for members to get to know each other, provide feedback about current and new programming. It is our way to collaborate with members to ensure we are meeting your needs and providing the best quality programming possible. Music with Shelley – This interactive group is facilitated by one of our program leaders. By using Youtube each person has the opportunity to share songs that mean something significant to them. We encourage discussion about the songs, especially how others felt after hearing it, keeping the content positive and encouraging. New Member Orientation – All new members are invited to this weekly orientation session which explains more about CMHA, community resources, as well as providing a detailed description of the calendar and our programs. Following orientation a one on one interview will be scheduled to discuss individual goals and needs.

*Outing* – Every month, join the Peer Support Workers of Community Connections on an outing in the community! Please see flyer for more information including location, meeting spots, prices and sign up deadline. Sign-up with Erin x.4248.

Peerzone – Is both a peer support and recovery education initiative with a solid evidence base. Peer led workshops for small groups of people with mental distress or addictions.

Perler Crafts – Perler Beads are a fun way to engage in mindfulness and to let your creativity shine. These small beads come in many different colors and by placing them according to a pattern, you can make beautiful crafts. Work together on big projects, or try working on your own patterns

*NEW* Photography – Learn the basics of photography, how to take beautiful pictures, and use the art of photography in a therapeutic way to support recovery. Cameras not required, bring your camera if you have one.

Quiet Hours – Come in to our main space during this time to have a coffee, use the computer, get some work done, read a book, make a call and browse our boards and calendar and see what is going on at CMHA and the community.

Relaxation - Join our volunteer for different mindfulness activities each week to stay present and promote relaxation.

Recovery Skills Group - Build a foundation of coping techniques with a new skill each week. Learn why a skill works, how to do the skill, and then put it into practice. Topics include assertiveness skills, organizational skills, and mindfulness skills.

Rhythmic Reframing Drumming – Join Tanya Porter for an integrative program and wellness system that combines rhythm, drumming, language and mindfulness. It is both powerful and playful and awakens individuals and teams to their highest potential. Participants are inspired to really “show up” and get behind their actions, feeling supported, connected and capable.

Spirituality - This group discusses spirituality in the broadest terms recognizing that people come from differing places. It addresses such issues as healthy spirituality, self-esteem from the inside out, the importance of rituals in our lives, prayer and meditation, and telling our sacred story. Speaker’s Bureau - The CMHA Speakers’ Bureau consists of experienced public speakers who are passionate about raising awareness of mental illness. Our speakers enlighten and educate by sharing their personal stories and how they overcame barriers through a dynamic recovery process.

Support for Depression – A peer run support group for individuals struggling with depression that is held in the evenings.

The Body/Mind Connection - A 4-week workshop on how the Brain, Nervous System, and Chemical System work, and how they affect your mental state.

Under the Rainbow Support Group - A safe and welcoming space run by peers where sexual and gender diversity is celebrated.

Video Game Therapy - There is so much opportunity to explore personal growth with simple, classic video games. This group incorporates video games into a broader discussion about themes of recovery and healthy coping strategies.

Volunteering with OSPCA – This closed group will be joining the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA) every other week for a variety of tasks including working directly with small animals (such as cats, guinea pigs and rabbits). Contact Shauna x.4230 to sign up.

Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) - This closed group involves listing your personal resources, your Wellness Tools, and then using those resources to develop an Action Plan. WRAP is adaptable for any situation and can include a Crisis Plan or Advance Directive. WRAP is for everyone, anything, and for any of life’s challenges

Yoga @ Yoga Source – This is a free drop-in Yoga class facilitated by a professional Yoga instructor at 16925 Yonge St, Newmarket.

Youth Drop In – A drop-in evening program for youth ages 15-29. Youth can connect in a fun, laid-back environment. Activities include structured discussion topics, games, music, and pool.
