May 17-18th is “Prayer Wall Weekend” and we have two wonderful Christian men coming to speak. Check out the flyer today with your newsletter regarding our big May weekend.
We have set a goal of 200 in attendance on Sunday morning, May 18th. Will you help us reach it?
May 17- RAY LINN, former minister of the Heath Church of Christ, will speak at our Saturday morning prayer breakfast. We will begin at 8:45. Ray has traveled oversees to Venezuela and has preached the Gospel there at least on seven separate occasions. He has a heart for world missions and I believe you will enjoy this man of God as he kicks off our “Unleashed for the Unreached” weekend.
May 18- KEITH DIMBATH, serves as the Laborlink Work Team Director for Lifeline Mission. After 30+ years of full-time ministry in the local church, God led Keith into a new ministry as part of Lifeline's staff. Keith had participated in Lifeline mission trips for many years and eventually volunteered to lead work teams to Haiti. Keith wants to help people discover the joy and excitement of being the hands and feet of Jesus in serving the needs of others. I can’t wait to hear his message on Sunday morning as he wraps up our “Unleashed for the Unreached” weekend of events.
THOUGHTS FROM BRAD …
I want to take this time to say “Thank You” to Dave for preaching on Sunday nights. It has been greatly appreciated as it allowed me to lead small groups to those who often have not attended on Sunday evenings. But for now, I am moving away from leading a group on Sunday nights and will begin leading our PM service as of Sunday, May 4th. I will begin a series of sermons on Sunday night entitled: “The Greatest Words in the Bible and in Human Speech.” Each week we will look at a specific word that affects all of us in one way or another. It should be a lot of fun! On our first week together, we will look at the “Most Beautiful Word.” Do you think you know what it is? Why not come and see for yourself. I plan to lead Sunday nights in a variety of ways. It may involve times of preaching or teaching. It may be a visual study or a time of prayer. I hope you commit to participating, no matter the format, as we simply seek to grow and mature in our faith, no matter the method being used. May 17th-Prayer Breakfast at 8:45 a.m. Ray Linn will speak (More details on front page). This breakfast is for our church only and we are asking you to sign up today as clipboards are being passed around. We are inviting our community to come see the wall from 1-5 p.m on Saturday. May 18th-Keith Dimbath will speak at our morning worship. (More details on front page). We have set a goal for 200 in our morning worship. Will you help us reach that goal? You have plenty of time to begin asking anyone you know to come see the “Prayer Wall” and attend our worship service that day.
Coming soon to a Wednesday night near you…We will offer an elective at the church entitled: “Acts of God”. This exciting six week cinematic study will use the life of Joseph to address the painful question: "If God is good, why does he allow so much pain in the world?" More details to come. In His Service, Brad
BITS FROM BRO. DAVE
TRIP TO ADENA MANSION: On Thursday, May 8, we will be going to Chillicothe to visit the Adena Mansion and Gardens. This is the restored home of Ohio’s sixth governor, Thomas Worthington. The house was originally built in 1806-1807 and now contains many of the original pieces of furniture. (I am told they will be having a sale on their “heirloom” plants.) The tour will be preceded by lunch at the Golden Corral (in Chillicothe). The cost for admission and transportation is just $9 per person. Our departure time will be 10:00 AM. A sign-up sheet is posted on our bulletin board. (I would appreciate receiving your payment when you sign up. If you are paying by check, make it payable to Fifth Avenue Church of Christ).
SUNDAY EVENINGS IN THE SANCTUARY: This Sunday evening (4/27), our study will be “What Does God Want From Me?” (Deuteronomy 10:12-13 & Mark 12:30-31). Next week, our preacher, Brad Seevers, will be returning to the Sunday evening pulpit, as he is not, currently, committed to any small group studies. Why not join us at 6:00 PM?
MIDWEEK BIBLE STUDIES: We are moving right along with our study on I Timothy. This is a chapter-by-chapter and verse-by-verse adventure. I invite you to join either of our groups which meet at 10:00 AM and 6:30 PM.
SENIOR SAINTS IN THE SMOKIES: As of this writing, we have a total of 9 registered to attend this grand event. There is still time to register! This will be the 30th anniversary for this senior event, held on the Johnson University (formerly Johnson Bible College) campus in Knoxville, Tennessee. The date is May 26-30. I would, certainly, encourage any of our folk to consider attending this great senior gathering (age 55 and up). One of our ladies still needs a roommate. See me for registration forms or for any questions.
FINAL THOUGHT: By the time a man realizes that his father was right he usually has a son which thinks he is wrong. (This probably applies to
mothers and daughters as well.)

Core Values...
Values central to the life, mission and vision of Fifth Avenue Church of Christ are:
Christ-Centered Worship We make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus through our music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on Jesus through grace-
based preaching and teaching & understand the Bible is our authority (2 Timothy 3:16).
Church Health and Biblical Balance Church health becomes reality when God's people seek harmony &
live consistently. We expect every member to protect the unity of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8)
Global Evangelism We are constant to our founding call to worldwide evangelism,
proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the Savior, Healer, and Soon-Coming King (Acts 20:27).
Fellowship and Ministry After people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip them to find a ministry based upon their strengths. We want everyone to
serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) We also want His church to be the living evidence of His love and power to the world.
Discipleship We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching you that Jesus seeks
a daily relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In other words, we want to see the things you are taught actually change
your lifestyle & your daily decisions.
Social Conscience We place high value on the sanctity of human life, of Biblical
marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity (Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).
OUR PURPOSE
WE EXIST TO …
Exalt God’s Greatness; Evangelize God’s Work
Equip God’s People Express God’s Love through Jesus Christ
OUR MISSION
“To Love God and Love People!”
How Can I Respond Today?
At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on all
issues. We believe that God’s Word is clear
concerning what a person must do to become a
Christian.
Trust that Jesus can bring you to salvation.
Turn (repent) from the sin in your life.
Confess your desire to make Jesus the Lord
of your life.
Be baptized (immersed) in water for the
forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy
Spirit into your life.
To make this life decision for Christ, we ask that you
come forward during our commitment song at the
conclusion of the Sunday message. Baptized believers
are welcome to become members at FACC by coming
forward on Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior
Minister to discuss this further. We ask that you
complete a series of Curious classes to help you
better understand what you are committing to as a
member. If you would like to take a Curious class,
please indicate this on your Silent Roll Call Card.

What Is God Like? by Beverly Lewis is an
early reader or a “Mommy and Me” book.
Before a father departs for his longest business
trip yet, he encourages his children to
remember that, “Even when I’m not here, God
is always with you.” After he leaves, the boy
and his little sister spend a fun-filled day and
star-filled night remembering everything they
were told about their Father in heaven. With
insightful text, Bible verses, and inspiring
illustrations, What Is God Like? vividly
answers the questions kids ask most. The final
page offers encouragement and suggestions
for parents who seek to teach their children
about our wonderful heavenly Father.
The Much-Adored Sandy Shore by Angela Elwell
Hunt (book #5 in the Cassie Perkins Series) is a book
for teen readers. Cassie Perkins is sick and tired of
being told she’s self-centered. She’s determined to
prove it isn’t true. Fortunately, she has the perfect
plan: making over the class misfit, Sandy Shore. All
it will take is a little makeup and a good diet, and
Sandy’s life will be all she could ever want it to be.
But there’s something Cassie doesn’t know.
Something that all the makeup and dieting in the
world can’t fix. And she’s about to learn that
helping people isn’t always as easy as it seems.
