CPR & Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) Fact Sheet Anyone can learn CPR – and everyone should! Sadly, 70 percent of Americans may feel helpless to act during a cardiac emergency because they either do not know how to administer CPR or their training has significantly lapsed. This alarming statistic could hit close to home, because home is exactly where 88 percent of cardiac arrests occur. Put very simply: The life you save with CPR is mostly likely to be someone you love.

This June, in honor of National CPR Week, the American Heart Association is calling on all Americans to learn how to give Hands-Only™ CPR by watching a simple one-minute video at heart.org/cpr. Once you have learned CPR, give 5 people you care about the power to save lives by equipping them to act quickly in a crisis.

Don’t be afraid; your actions can only help. If you see an unresponsive adult who is not breathing or not breathing normally, call 911 and push hard and fast on the center of the chest.

Today’s Anthem “Crown Him the Risen King”

By Lloyd Larson

All creatures of our God and King,

Lift up your voice and with us sing:

“Christ is risen! Christ is risen!” O praise Him, Alleluia!

Rejoice, the Lord is King! Your Lord and King adore!

Rejoice, give thanks, and sing And triumph evermore.

Lift up your heart,

Lift up your voice! Rejoice, again I say, rejoice!

His kingdom cannot fail;

He rules over earth and heaven; The keys of death and hell

Are to our Jesus given.

Lift up your heart, Lift up your voice!

Rejoice, again I say, rejoice!

Crown Him with many crowns,

The Lamb upon His throne. Hark! How the heavenly anthem

drowns All music but its own.

(Crown Him, the Risen King! Cont.)

Awake, my soul, and sing Of Him who died for thee,

And hail Him as thy matchless King Through all eternity.

Crown Him the Lord of life, Who triumphed o’er the grave,

And rose victorious in the strife For those He came to save;

His glories now we sing

Who died and rose on high, Who died eternal life to bring,

And lives that death may die. All creatures of our God and King,

Christ is risen! Alleluia!

United Methodist Women Mission Moments

As director of the Wesley Foundation at UCLA I work with many immigrant students. I am deeply touched and moved by the extent of sacrifice, perseverance and resiliency students and their families show in breaking the systems of injustice, language and access. I am deeply moved by the way students and their families welcome me into their lives and the way The United Methodist Church advocates for all to create systems oh hope, health and peace.
