We arrived about 9 PM and we were greeted by most of the village. You always sleep better when you are at home and Guatemala has always been a second home for me. During the course of the week our team put a new roof on a new church, began to prepare the walls for stucco and demolished the old sanctuary. It seems odd to sum up a weeks worth of work in a single sentence because it was anything but easy and simple! The National Primitive Evangelical Methodist Church of Guate- mala took wonderful care of us during the week. We were extremely well fed by our cooks, the Methodist Women did our laundry, our interpreters were wonderful and the members of the congregation and community were wonderfully gracious to us. Worship was a powerful and transformational experience of singing and prayer and preaching that lasted for two hours each time. Then there were the children. Lots of them everywhere. They were fascinated with us and eager to learn a few English words and more eager for a piece of candy. On our last day there we shared in an activity with them and over 200 chil- dren came from the surrounding hills. Most importantly, we were transformed by our experience. Our lives were deeply impacted by the simple joy and deep and abiding faith of the people of Paxot. Is your name on the list for next year? Where We Were in March

Wow!

What an incredible trip. In eighteen years of participating in the Volunteers in Mis-sion Building Teams program of our annual conference, I was privileged to be the team leader of 2007 Team #22 to Paxot (pa-shot) Segundo, Guatemala. This was, by far, the single best team that I have taken and the single best mission trip that I have experienced. We arrived about 9 PM and we were greeted by most of the village. The men and children helped us move our luggage into our temporary home – a concrete block community build-ing with nothing in it but concrete floors and a few bathrooms. The team tells me that within three minutes of my head hitting the pillow I was sound asleep for the rest of the night. You always sleep better when you are at home and Guatemala has always been a second home for me. During the course of the week our team put a new roof on a new church, began to prepare the walls for stucco and demolished the old sanctuary. CHURCH FINANCIAL NEWS

As you give to the church, please remember our Main Street property, formerly the Fletcher Insurance building, Line of Credit loan. “How much can we pay on the loan?” This is the first topic of discussion at every finance meeting. The current balance is $212,500.00. We are currently paying over $4,000.00 in quarterly interest payments. Please help us reduce our principal amount. Your contributions to the building fund will help us reduce this debt. Thank you for your continued contributions! Rodney Dabbs Chair of Finance

Troop 19 News!

food for the weekend, and retired three American flags as well. On March 27th we held the Court of Honor. Ranks of

advancement were Scout, Tenderfoot, and First Class. We welcome our newest Boy Scout, Dylan Kennedy.

“Blessed are those who bestow healing love, for they may be known as physicians of the

soul” (from the Beatitudes of Love). Thank you for your prayers, your cards, and your gifts of love.

In Christ, Clayton Smith

Friends In Christ,

Miracles still happen and God is good! Kara Bingham was released from the hospital on March 9th. We brought her home to Charlotte last week. On February 15th, she had a bone marrow transplant. The transplant went well, however, there is still a chance of rejection, therefore she will have to continue to go to Winston for the next 100

days. It will take about 9-12 months before Kara is “back to normal.” She now has a 50-60% chance of the leukemia not coming back.

On behalf of the Bingham Family, we express our most sincere appreciation for all the prayers and expressions of support given on behalf of Kara.

The “Caring for Kara” fund has received enough to pay all of her medical expenses to date. The outpouring, the love offerings, the fundraisers, all have been just an amazing act of grace. Thanks again and may God continue to

bless your ministry.

Keith Bingham

Thank you to everyone who sent cards, letters, and prayers during my recent surgery and recovery. It really meant a lot to me and contributed greatly to
