I want to thank all of our Brother Knights who’s participated in this year’s Gala and Auction. Our Mardi Gras in Memphis turned out to be one of our most successful Galas to date. The 250 peo- ple in attendance enjoyed good music, excellent food and, extraordinary bargains in our silent auc- tion. I would like to personally thank Deacon John Moskal for doing such great job with our live auction. His many characters during the auction really topped off the night and helped us fully fund all of our live auction charities in record time. Our final social of the fraternal year is scheduled for May 11 th . We will be honoring our Clergy and our Senior High Youth Award Recipient. Please plan on joining us for a wonderful Italian Meal prepared by our own Chef Vinnie and his crew. On a final note, Vince Morelli and I will be attending the state convention in Nashville on April 26 th – 28 th . Please keep us in your prayers as we represent Council 7449. Ask eligible men to join Today, I want to address the growth of the Order. Membership growth is the fuel that keeps this great fraternal engine running. All of our charitable works in the council, state, national and international level are thanks to our hard-working members. The membership blitz is a tried and true way for councils to increase their numbers. We see these pushes often in March, in celebration of Founder’s Day, and again in October. These drives are successful because brother Knights are more visible than normal, during and after Masses and at special events. Our special event this year is a Corporate Mass, to be held on Sunday, April 14, at the 10:45 Mass. If possible, please attend this Mass, where all Brother Knights and their fami- lies will sit together. Eucharistic ministers and ushers will be Knights. After Mass, we will have Brother Knights in the narthex where we will ask each and every Catholic gentleman to join our ranks for the good of the Church, the community and the Order. We need your help—with your presence at Mass, with serving, and greeting men in the nar- thex. Brother Ben Galle is organizing Eucharistic ministers and ushers. Please call Ben at 907- 764-7662 to help. Brother Chris Franz is organizing greeters to meet men in the narthex after Mass. Please call Chris at 753-7873 to help. We are very close to meeting our membership goal for the fraternal year, which ends in June. Let’s make this event the one that puts us over the top. Thanks in advance for your help. And please wear your membership badge to Mass. Jim Rolleri, Membership Chairman. 304-6993 Membership

I hope everyone had a blessed Easter with their loved ones this past Holy Week. Even though it is officially Spring it sure doesn't feel like it with all the cold wet rain we have had. Let us all remember it is April showers that bring May flowers. As the flowers begin to bloom let us re-call our own renowned love for our Faith and Family. Our Family Campout is being re-scheduled for sometime in the Fall when it is cooler. Stay tuned for more details as we near that time.

Brother Darren Arnoult Family Chairman [email protected]

Brother Knights, First let me start off by saying Thank You, to all the Brother Knights who came out March 16TH & 17TH to help with the Mayors 5k & Marathon Race. With your help and the many other volunteers that were there, all seemed to be a very successful event. This Saturday, April 6TH, Help feed the Hungry. St Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen. Please contact Brother Bill Satterlee & let him know you want to help. Mark your calendars now for our next Community Event, Saturday, May 11TH, Germantown Postal Food Drive & Luncheon. We will help unload the mail carriers trucks as they return to the post office on Farmington with food they have collected on their routes & also provide lunch for all employees there that day. They are looking forward to this annual volunteer help & lunch.

Knights Of Columbus

Hello again! We have some exciting news this month. We re-ported in our January newsletter that we had held our annual Free Throw contest sponsored by the Knight of Columbus Coun-cil 7449. Since then, we had a number of kids compete in the district, regional, and finally, at the state level competition. We had a total of 7 boys and girls represent our council at the District competition held at Incarnation Church. Out of that level of competition, we had 5 make it to the Regional level held at St Ann’s Bartlett. From there, we had 3 boys and girls represent our council at the state competition held in Brentwood, TN. We are excited to announce that 2 of our competitors won at the State level this year. They are William Griffith, representing the 10 year old boy category, and Rachael Sullivan, representing the 12

year old girl category. Congratulations on your accomplish-ments! You have represented our council well. We will be rec-ognizing them at our May Social! Next on the agenda is the an-nual Knights vs Senior youth basketball game on Sunday, March 17th. We will leave you in suspense until next month’s newsletter to let you know the results of the game. That’s it for now. Until then, take care!

Plan for this tax day and into the future

April 15 (tax day) is right around the corner. It’s become popular this time of year to encourage the opening of an IRA or similar retirement annuity, or the depositing of additional funds into an existing account, as a tax-savings vehicle. A secondary approach is to tout the rate of interest that money in one of these accounts can earn. Let me join the chorus of folks encouraging you to open or add funds to an annuity, but for a different reason. Certainly, contributing money to a Knights of Columbus annu-ity will allow you to save some money on your income tax return. And our annuities do pay a very competitive interest rate, consistent with our primary goal of absolute safety of principal. Opening or adding to an annuity for these reasons, however, strikes me as taking a short-term view of a product that is designed to provide long-term security.

How much security? How does retirement income that you cannot outlive— guaranteed — sound to you? Here at the Knights of Columbus, you can open a retirement annuity for as little as $300. Consistent and disciplined savings placed into that annuity over time can guarantee you an income at retirement that you cannot outlive. That guarantee — along with the fact that no one has ever lost money left in a Knights of Columbus annuity (remember – absolute safety of principal) — really will provide you with peace of mind. I am happy to meet with you – at your convenience and in your home – to explain in detail the benefits of opening a Knights of Columbus annuity, along with the benefits of our top-rated life insur-ance, disability income and long-term care insurance plans.

Religiously Devoted, Patriotically Proud For most men who follow Jesus, there comes a time when duty extends beyond our own lives, beyond how we lead our families, and into how we serve

our fellow man. The Patriotic Degree allows

knights to take this one step further.

Are you Ready to finish your journey?

Prayer For Vocations

Heavenly Father, bless Your Church with an abundance of

holy and zealous priests, deacons, brothers and sisters. Give those you have called to

the Married state and those you have chosen to live as single

persons in the world the special graces that their lives require.

Form us all in the likeness of Your Son so that in Him,

with Him and through Him we may love you more deeply and

serve you more faithfully, always and everywhere. With

Mary we ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen. Council 7449
