The five-hour pre-licensing course is a pre-requisite for obtaining
a New York State Driver’s License. Those wishing to enroll in the
course may do so with the secretary in the Counseling Center
at the high school, Monday – Friday. You may also register by
mailing the form on the back of this brochure with your payment.
Please allow time for mailed payments to reach us to guarantee
your seat in class. You must bring your valid NYS Learner’s
Permit to class.
All participants must be enrolled by the Friday morning
before the class begins. For walk-ins and Monday
registrants a late fee of $5.00 will be added and seats
are not guaranteed if the class is filled.

Payment must be received by the Thursday before
the class to secure an instructor.
This course will allow New York State motorists to receive a
10% discount on motor vehicle liability and collision insurance
premiums for a three year period. Drivers who have incurred
violation points on their driving record will be eligible to receive
a 4 point reduction. For point reduction purposes, this class
can be taken again after 18 months. The course is certified
with the Department of Motor Vehicles and the National Safety
Council. The program consists of six hours of classroom
instruction including videos, lecture and discussion. Students
will be taught accident prevention techniques along with useful
refresher information. Course materials include a student
workbook and a New York State Driver’s Manual. Payment
must be received by the Wednesday before the class
to secure an instructor.

the cold season. Indoor walking for Adult Education participants

will learn many of the basic strokes of painting and become
familiar with decorative painting terms and techniques.
Beginners as well as those who have painted before are most
welcome. Students will paint at least two projects during this

students should bring a water container and paper towels.*
New students will need to make the one time purchase
of a brush kit at the cost of $20.00 from the instructor

Hiking is a wonderful hobby andgreat exercise as well as a greatway to get in touch withnature!!! Let us teach you howto do it right! The art of “stayingfound” requires little more thana good map and compass, andthe know how to use them properly. Today’s topographic mapsare the best available, and magnetic compass models are well-designed for the modern navigator. Learning to use a compassand map together are fundamental skills each outdoorsmanand woman should have. This contributes to your safety afield,and also to your success. This class offers an introduction tolearning these skills, with classroom and in the field hands onlearning. All classroom materials are provided.
*Our optional hike will be on Buck Mountain overlooking LakeGeorge. On a clear day you can see the High Peaks in theAdirondack Mountains and also look below to see the manyislands sparkling like jewels in Lake George. Barbara McMartin’sbook, 50 Hikes in the Adirondacks, describes Buck Mountain as“a perfect introduction to the Adirondacks.” Buck Mountain is amoderate hike of 3 miles (one way) with a few challengingspots. We will car pool for the hike and you will need to bringyour own lunch and water. Plans and preparation for the hikewill be discussed in the class. Hike is tentatively planned

It’s time to get that old chair seat repaired! Enroll in this class
and learn to do the job yourself. Both pressed and woven cane,
splint, rush, porch weave and Danish cord techniques can be
taught in this class. Bring your project to the first class-we will
remove the old seat properly (if necessary). **First night of
class will be used to determine the materials needed
for each individual’s project.

This class is for puppies as young as 12 weeks old or for dogswho need basic obedience training. Bring food, toys, balls, andtugs your dog likes for training. Puppies should be wearing aflat collar and have a six foot, light leash. This class introducesrecalls, sit, down, walking without pulling, manners around otherdogs and people.Please bring vet records and the brush you use to
groom your dog.
This class will help prepare your dog for the A.K.C. Star Certifi-cate.
The dogs in this class know and obey basic obediencecommands. This class works on off leash work: heeling, longrecalls, moving exercises such as down while heeling and sitwhile heeling. Week 1 - Learn the basics of quilting. We will learn to use arotary cutter and mat to cut quilt pieces, discuss how topiece a block and finishingtechniques. We will also discussthe different tools that can beused to make quilting easy.

Fundamentals of all strokes will be taught, including forehand,

Snowshoeing has become one of the fastest growing wintersports in the country. Simply strap on a pair of snowshoes andgo on a winter hike or backpack! Class will start with an indoorclinic and focus on the gear selection and the initial skills neededto get you on the trails. This is a great introduction to thesport. Then we will hit the outdoors for some fun in the snow.Discover the joy of winter and thefreedom of snowshoeing! On thefield outing, you will learnsnowshoeing techniques,ascending and descending hills andwinter preparedness. Prior toclass we will communicate properclothing and gear for this great
adventure.
If there is interest, we may
set up a field trip to Cherry Plain State Park.

We will be traveling with YankeeTrails Charter Bus Company and anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. No smokingis allowed on the bus. There will be a short comfort stop on the way to Boston and on the way home (ifneeded). All registrations and payments must bereceived by October 16, 2015. Don’t wait until the
