A series of revival services will begin Sunday, September 17, with the 11 o'clock morning worship service, and will continue through Friday, September 22. The guest minister will be

Rev. Coy Privette of Kan­ napolis, a past president of the Baptist State Convention, a widely known dry leader, and formerly candidate for Governor of North Carolina. Services will be held each

evening at 7:30. Special music will be featured

each evening and a nursery will be provided. Rev. Charles F. Broome,

pastor, extends an invitation to everyone to attend the revival and hear Mr. Privette.

Interim pastor accepts call to Aquadale Baptist Rev. Raeford Cooke of Troy,

has accepted the call to pastor Aquadale Baptist Church. He has been the interim pastor since the first Sunday in Febru­ ary. He preached Sunday, May 27 as the full time pastor of the church. Rev. Cooke is no stranger to Aquadale' Baptist Church because he was the pas­ tor here from March 1967 through September 1969. Rev. Cooke is married to Pat

Gibson Cooke and they have two children, Michael Cooke and Kathy C. Collingwood. They have four grandchildren, Mike and Katie Cooke, Kimberly and Jordan Collingwood. On June 10, after the morning

worship, the congregation will be sharing a meal in the fellow­ ship building to welcome Rev. and Mrs. Cooke to our midst. We at Aquadale invite you to come

and bring a filled basket and meet the Cooke's on to renew acquaintances. //

Aquadale Baptist Church Sunday, October 7, and will continue through

Friday, October 12, at 7: 30 each evening. The guest minis­

ter will be Rev. Ronald Blakeley, pastor of Silver Springs Baptist Church. Special singing

is planned each night and different organizations in the church wiJI be

responsible for "packing the pews.'' Rev. Charles F. Broome, pastor, is

o'clock worship service, Jean Phil­ lips will share some of the expert­ ences she and her husband, Gene Phillips, have had while serving as missionaries at Triangle Baptist Mission in Zimbabwe. The Phil­ lipses, who are home on furlough and are filling many speaking engage­ ments while here, have spent ap­ proximately 25 years in the mission field. Mrs. Phillips is the daughter of the

late Blanche Greene Jarvis, former­ ly of the Aquadale community, whose father was Robert L. Greene. Pastor Charles Broome extends a special invitation to her many friends and relatives, as well as to the public, to attend this service. For the evening service on August

29, beginning at 7 o'clock, the choir from Mission Baptist Church will present a musical program, featur­ ing special selections by the choir, a solo by Hoyle Whitley, who is Choir Director at Mission; a solo by Kolis Whitley; a piano duet by Kolis and Kristi Whitley, and possibly a selec­ tion by both Mission and Aquadale choirs. Kolis Whitley will accompany the choir at the piano, and Myra Mor­ ton at the organ. Kolis and Kristi, who serve as Choir Director and pi· anist at Richfield Baptist Church, are daughters of Hoyle and Edith' Whitley. Terry Whitley, Director of Music

accepted the call as interim pas­ tor of Aguadale Baptist Church. He will be conducting all of the regular scheduled church ser­ vices. Rev. Honeycutt is well known

throughout Stanly County hav­ ing served as pastor of several churches in the Stanly Baptist Association, the most recent as interim of Anderson Grove Bap­ tist Church. The Honeycutts reside in Concord. The congregation extends a

Dale Collingwood of Troy will be ordained into the gospel min­ istry Sunday, May 24 at 3 p.m. at Aquadale Baptist Church in Norwood. Collingwood is a member of

the Fellowship Baptist Church in New London and presently serves as associate ·pastor under the leadership of Senior Pastor Rev. Darrell Huneycutt. He is presently attending

MCC where he will graduate in August with an associate degree in general education. Upon com­ pletion of graduation he plans to further his education in the field of religion/education. Collingwood is married to

Kathy Cooke and the couple has two children: Kimberly, 8, and Jordan, 6. They reside on Route 1, in Troy. Friends and family are invited to attend.

Aquadale Church Ladies &nor Pastor And Wife The Rev. and Mrs. Roger Kiker

of 34465 Rocky River Springs Rd., Norwood, were honored for their 25th wedding anniversary Jan. 23 in the fellowship hall of Aquadale Baptist Church. The reception was given by ladies of the church. They were married Jan. 18,

1969, in Charlotte by The Rev. C.E. Baker. Mrs. Kiker is the former Sheila Helms, daughter of Jathra and Ethel Helms and was born in Charlotte. Mr.Kiker is the son of Henry and Ruby Kiker and is a native of Monroe. They have three children,

Tommy Kiker of Wingate Col­ lege and Rhonda and Donna Kiker, both of Norwood. For their anniversary Mrs.

Kiker wore a dress of navy sill with burgundy trim. She was presented a corsage of white roses and Mr. Kiker was pre­ sented a white rose boutonniere, The table was covered with a

peach cloth overlaid with a white lace clo h and accented

with silver candelabra holding peach candles. The center arrangement was of aqua and peach flowers and the corner of the table was draped with silver bows and white roses. Other decorations included

pictures of the couple during the past 25 years, an arrangement of 25 peach and white carna­ tions, and bud vases of carna­ tions and baby's breath. The three-tiered wedding cake

was decorated with aqua and peach flowers. It was cut and served by Kathy Ridenhour. Betsy Poplin poured punch. A variety of finger foods was served. Judy Lucas attended the regis­

ter. Ladies of the church assist­ ed in serving. Sam Hopkins welcomed the

guests and offered prayer. Among the 100 guests were

friends and relatives from Mon­ roe, Stanfield, Norwood and Albemarle.

celebtate its "75Th anniversary and Homecoming Sunday, July 24. The church family extends a warm welcome to all past and present members and .pastors to come and join our celebration. On September 7, 1919, in the

presence of three Baptist Minis­ ters and 10 deacons; 13 mem­ bers of various Baptist Churches met to declare themselves as charter members of a "New Church." After reading the church covenant and the Decla­ rations of Faith, it was resolved that Aquadale Missionary Bap­ tist Church be established. On Sept. 8, 1919, Rev. W.J. Russell and Rev. J. Marvin Smith held a revival meeting for the church in the public school house at Aquadale. It was decided that preaching services were to be, held on the fourth Sunday at 11 a.m. and the Saturday before at 2p.m. On October 23, 1919, at Union

Grove, the Baptist Association examined the church's letter of request for membership and found it favorable. Work on a church building was begun in the Spring of 1921. All work was volunteer and men worked on days convenient from their

farming duties. Ladies raised funds to buy a bell and paint the church. By Sept. 15, 1921, the work was finished and the building was ready for use. After serving the membership for 41 years, the original church gave way to a new and better equipped building. The first ser­ vice was held on April 1, 1962. The Rev. Boyd Hopkins will

deliver the Homecoming mes­ sage at the 11 a.m. service. A covered dish meal will fo11ow. As with our beginnings in 1919, revival services, will again be held on Sunday night, July 24 and continue through Wednes­ day night. The Rev. Lowell Brown will lead the revival ser­ vices. The public is cordially mvited

to attend these special services.
