INTRODUCING THE COURSE
We wanted the students to:
• Be able to identify aquatic environments in our area.
• Identify possible dangers in these environments.
• Realise the importance of aquatics education in everyday situations.

Lesson 1: Describe the need and importance of aquatics education
These are students in room 2 working on filling out their R.A.M.S. It is very important to know the possible risks and how to deal with them. We all learned a lot by filling out the RAMS.

Lesson 2: Describe my experiences and feelings about participation in, on or around
water.
THE CONTINUM EXERCISE
Here are some examples of the questions:
1. Do you like to swim at school?
2. Do you like to wear a t-shirt and shorts when you swim?
3. Do you like deep water?
4. Do you swim between the flags?
5. Do you like to participate in water activities with your family?

Lesson 3: 1. Understand the principles of flotation.
2. Examine the effectiveness of different equipment and body position for
flotation.

Lesson 4: The appropriate and in appropriate use of equipment in aquatic environment.
For this exercise, every student was given a picture and they had to find the people that were using the equipment appropriately or inappropriately.
Lesson 5: Use life jackets appropriately in a variety of situations and understand and
practice HELP and HUDDLE positions.
These are some students practicing the HELP exercise.
HELP stands for Heat Escaping Lessening Position.
This is the group HUDDLE. The group HUDDLE was a lot easier
than the individual one.
