1. Introduction

This manual describes the following steps for the AR-DV1 Tablet App Interface WebAdapter.

- Boot media creation and write the boot volume image file to the microSD card.- Unique values for each adapter device, expand SD card partitions. Unique values according to the MAC address of the adapter’s wireless device.- Check the operation of the adapter device. Wireless connection from your tablet to the adapter device, and confirm that the receiver can be controlled and its audio can be heard via the tablet.

3. Work procedure

3.1. Boot media creation

On your PC, use WIN32 Disk Imager to write the image file of the boot volume to

the MicroSD memory card.

- Image File: ar-web-receiver_for_rapsberrypi3_20190118b.img

- Device: Drive name assigned by your PC to the empty microSD card(E:\ in this example)

Note: If your microSD memory card is not empty or if it has multiple partitions, use the SD memory card formatter before writing the image. Instructions further below.

- Click on write

- Confirm overwrite [Yes]

- As the image file will be written on a partition in a different format thanWindows, the following pop-ups might appear. Just ignore and click [Cancel].

-This pop-up will confirm the success of the procedure. Click OK to close.

For reference： Format the microSD card with SD Memory Card Formatter

If your microSD memory card is not empty or if it has multiple partitions, use the SDmemory card formatter before writing the image.

3.2 Unique values for each adapter device, expand SD card partitions

Note: Do not share boot media (on SD cards) between adapter devices. The initial values for each adapter device are automatically generated upon the first boot. These values are unique to each hardware ID, therefore making it incompatible with another device.

Preparation: The adapter device connects to the receiver with a USB cable, and to your LAN network with a LAN cable. Finally connect the adapter device to its AC adapter.

Boot media installation

Insert the microSD card (onto which you have previously installed the image file) into the adapter device’s SD card slot.

Power on

Connect the adapter device’s AC adapter to power on. After approx. 60 seconds the boot procedure will be complete.

Wifi connection

In your iPad’s Wifi settings, find the adapter device’s SSID as follows:

The last 4 letters of the SSID are an element of the passphrase. For example:

SSID AR-WEB-RECEIVERXXXX

Passphrase arwebreceiverXXXX

Reference: XXXX are to the last 4 digits of the adapter device’s MAC address.

SSH ON

Once your iPad is connected wirelessly to the adapter device, open the sample web app with the "Safari" browser. Go to SETTINGS and activate "SSH Service" as follows.

Using the iPad app TERMIUS, connect to your adapter device via SSH.

Expand Filesystem

Let’s expand the file system using the Raspberry Pi Software Configuration Tool (raspi-config).

Wifi connection

Connect with your iPad via wifi as described in chapter 2.3

SSH OFF

Once your iPad is connected wirelessly to the adapter device, open the sample web app with the "Safari" browser. Go to SETTINGS and deactivate "SSH Service" as follows.

Reboot

Tap REBOOT on the sample web app.

3.3. Check the operation of the adapter device

Wireless connection to the adapter device from your tablet. Confirm withthe sample web app that receiver control and audio are functioning.

Can you change the frequency?

Can VFOs be switched?

Can received audio be heard on the tablet?

Can volume be adjusted?

Can the squelch be set?

Is spectrum display functioning?

Check the IP address of the adapter’s LAN port

In the sample web app, go to MENU > SETTINGS, then ADAPTER-SETTINGS. On that page, MAC and IP of both the wifi and LAN port are described.

Verifying the LAN connection

Log in to the sample web app from LAN to verify that the receiver can becontrolled and received audio heard.

Shutdown

Tap SHUTDOWN on the sample web app.

Power off

After the adapter device’s shutdown sequence is complete (approx. 20 seconds),the AC adapter can be disconnected.
