Offering a host of integrated training solutions, vocational and professional training in more than 20 areas through more than 300 basic training programs, TAGI-UNI helps you to refine your professional skills, your competencies and abilities, develop your trained abilities and provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed.

TAGI-UNI has designed the Arabic Fluency Certificate to contribute to the dissemination of the Arabic language and its culture, enhance its value globally and ensure the standardization of the assessment of the linguistic levels of native speakers and non-native speakers. This unique certificate also makes it easier for professional and academic institutions to assess with credibility and high quality the level of candidates through a standard test that covers all the skills in the Arabic language. TAGI-UNI designed and developed this test to be the most professional tool for measuring the candidates’ mastery in Arabic language.

About the Arabic Fluency Test It is a tool and systematic process to measure the learning outcomes of candidates and their Arabic linguistic and cultural knowledge. It is a standardized test that measures the ability of candidates to benefit from their study of the Arabic language, and identifies the extent of their familiarity with its rules and principles. This test measures candidate’s mastery in a wide range of the Arabic language content: the extent to which the candidates are able to read, their knowledge of the vocabulary, grammar, in addition to their listening comprehension and ability to speak and write in Arabic. It has been prepared by specialized professionals, and is applied in standard conditions and corrected in a professional way. It is standardized and comprehensive covering all parts and sections of the Arabic language. It is a test that determines the linguistic level of native Arabic speakers and non-native speakers. It conforms to the standards of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), takes advantage of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) guidelines, and takes into consideration the specificity of the Arabic language. The test is carried out with a high degree of stability under a neutral supervision and with the utmost accuracy and objectivity.

5Certificate in Arabic Language Fluency

The Importance of Learning Arabic LanguageArabic is one of the most widely used languages in the world, and one of the basic tenets of Arab identity. It is the official language of the Arab countries and the language of the Holy Quran for all Muslims, regardless of their nationality, place of origin, and native language. The Arabic language is the gateway to the heritage and civilization of the Arab and Islamic regions, which are full of monuments and traces of ancient and historical civilizations that have inhabited these areas. Also, it has been the language of scientific and cultural communication for a long time, and it has been the spoken language of many scholars and thinkers all over the world.

It is necessary to strengthen the presence of the Arabic language in the world, and to give it more attention and care. It is characterized by an unlimited flexibility to express the diverse human knowledge. Indeed, the Arabic language is very rich in vocabulary and expression that have produced poetry, distinguished literature, and great scientific and intellectual achievements.

Importance of the Arabic Fluency TestThe existence of a standardized and unified testing of the level of fluency in the Arabic language enhances the structure of this language and elevates it to a greater world-class level. While most of the prior methods of addressing the reality of the contemporary Arabic language turned to the nature of curricula only, the Arabic Fluency Test is a tool for the protection of the Arabic language and one of the strategies to promote the language in the Arab world as well as internationally, in addition to employing the technology necessary to serve it. It ensures the measurement of the levels of students and learners of the Arabic language from native or non-native speakers transparently and objectively, and thus can be used to assess their linguistic level anywhere around the world. Accordingly, it represents a tool to protect classical Arabic from any distortion or neglect, especially given the neglect nowadays, such as teaching a foreign language and replacing the daily use of Arabic with foreign words without taking care of Arabic language.

At the same time, the Arab countries have been receiving many expatriates from all over the world for various purposes, whether students, tourists or investors, which requires a standardized test that measures language proficiency of non-native Arabic learners with impartiality and objectivity.

Beneficiary and Target Groups The main beneficiaries of this test are academic institutions, especially universities, which can determine the fluency level of native Arabic speakers and non-native speaker students when they join an institution.

The test can also be used in the following areas:1. Joining language programs or academic tracks that require specific language levels.2. University admission and exemption from some academic requirements.3. Enrolling in jobs that require knowledge of the Arabic language.4. Documenting the linguistic level of the student’s language during and after the study.

Sections and Details of the Test The Arabic fluency test consists of five sections that measure the following skills:1. Training Program to Qualify for the TestTalal Abu-Ghazaleh International University (TAGI-UNI) provides a training program that qualifies for testing through:1. The “Fluency in Arabic Language Skills” book which is considered an excellent readable and

audible reference. It is a comprehensive resource for the Arabic linguistic skills and a good way to be prepared and qualified to sit for the fluency test. It is prepared in a way that enables the learner to study it on their own or throughout a training course.

The Book is designed for Arabic intermediate and advanced level learners in an attempt to help them overcome the difficulties that stand in their way in mastering the four language skills:

8

(Reading, Writing, Conversation and Listening). It also aims at training the reader on using these skills in everyday life. Hence, the book comes in four units named after each skill. It provides the rules and principles of Arabic to help the student master these skills and fill the gap between knowing the rules and applying them.

The book adopts a simple approach in presenting its material, whether written or audio, through a clear and defined language avoiding any ambiguity or difficult definitions. It is also full of literary texts that are vibrant with life and possess the spirit of the modern times. It also includes various and well-selected exercises to help the reader and learner measure his performance and skill. In addition, the book includes lessons in grammar, morphology, rhetoric and dictation followed by a number of exercises and sample questions with answers. The lessons within each unit also highlight the most common language mistakes.

The book can be obtained through Talal Abu-Ghazaleh International University or any of its accredited centers around the world.

2. Enrollment in the Arabic Fluency Test Preparation Program is offered in the accredited centers presenting the required skills according to the curriculum prepared for training.

At the end of the training course, models of the preparatory tests are provided so that the candidate can sit for the test and experience its environment at ease.
