THE ARABIC NUMBERS
The number we all use (1,2,3,4, etc.) are called “ Arabic” numbers to distinguish them from the “ Roman Numbers” (I ,II ,III ,IV ,V ,VI , etc.)
The Arabs popularised these numbers; however their true origin are attributed to the Phoenicians Traders who used them to control their trades.
But, did you ever ask yourself why “1” means “one", “2” means “two“, etc. ?
The Roman numbers are easy to understand, but ...where is the logic with the Phoenician numbers?
Pay attention :
THE WHOLE CONCEPT IS BASED ON ANGLES
It’s pure logic if you write the number in its primitive form i.e. You will see that :
- The number ONE has only one angle- The number TWO has two angles- The number THREE has 3 angles- And the number ZERO has no angles
As a picture is worth a 1000 words, here it is:
Tonight, we will be brighter when we go to bed; won’t we?
