Arbitration Interactive combines the traditional case-book methodology with modern DVD technology, thereby allowing for a new and innovative learning approach to the law and practice of international arbitration.
In the casebook, the reader is guided through 16 sce-narios of the business relationship between a Dutch and a Swiss company, from the negotiations over the export contract, to the commencement of an interna-tional arbitration and onward to the enforcement of the fi nal award. The reader must also navigate through
substantive legal topics, which include applicable law issues, damage claims under the UN Sales Convention (CISG), the enforceability of penalty clauses and set-off defences in international commercial arbitration.
The DVD contains all the documents relating to this business relationship as well as the video of the ar-bitration hearing dealing with the dispute between the parties. The tribunal hears the parties on the jurisdic-tion of the tribunal as well as the merits of the case; the hearing also features the taking of evidence by witness examination culminating in a witness conference.
The casebook and DVD are a unique teaching tool for all courses introducing the practice of interna-tional arbitration. Students and delegates can use the material for self-study. Teachers and trainers are encouraged to focus on particular scenarios of the arbitral process supplemented by the relevant section from the mock arbitration hearing to demon-strate the practice of arbitration.

About the author
Klaus Peter Berger is professor of law at the Univer-sity of Cologne. He has published extensively in the fi eld of arbitration and has acted as arbitrator in sev-eral cases. He has also been coach to many Willem C. Vis teams from Cologne and Münster, Germany.
About the cast
The cast performing the oral hearings of the arbitra-tion includes some of the world‘s most distinguished arbitration professionals: Martin Hunter, Pierre Karrer, Hilmar Raeschke-Kessler, Claudia Kälin-Nauer, Con-stantine Partasides, Stefan-Georg Hoffmann, Frie-drich Blase.
