• Aim
– demonstrate that metadata and spatial data can be integrated within the one spatial dataset , so that when the spatial data is updated, the metadata related to that data set is also updated
• Objective
– The major outcomes of the project are development and demonstration of model driven tools for recording, updating and delivering metadata in an automated fashion.

1. Investigate and assess current metadata standards, databases and uses, focusing on future, dynamic and on-line requirements.
2. Investigate the process involved in integrating metadata and spatial data within the one file or database.
3. Investigate the concept of views to support any metadata schema at any time without changing the file or database.
4. Investigate the process involved in integrating metadata and spatial data within the one file or database.
5. Undertake pilot projects
6. Develop an integration model to integrate the management and updating of metadata and spatial data.
PhD 1 - Develop methods to automate processes of metadata creation and updating through the development of pilot projects.
