Here’s to Our IndependenceLet us not forget to take a moment to remember
those who fought for our country’s independence solong ago.
The revolutionaries of 1776 couldn’t have imaginedhow far we would come. The great strides we’ve madein science, technology, medicine and social justice areonly more amazing when you consider wherewe started.
So while you’re enjoying the all-American foods andbreathtaking sights of Independence Day, take sometime to thank those first Americans who took a leapinto the unknown in the hopes of a better tomorrow. We will celebrate with the traditional barbequeand entertainment.
Julie and David Chirikian along with the entireA.G. staff wish all the residents and their families ahappy and safe 4th of July.

I Lift My Lamp Beside theGolden Door
She was a gift between twofriends. She took 10 years toarrive and months to assemble, yet her presence has stood tallfor more than a century.
Liberty Enlightening theWorld, a gift to the United Statesfrom France, was arepresentation of the friendshipthat developed between bothcountries during the AmericanRevolution. Meant to becompleted in time for America’scentennial on July 4, 1876, theStatue of Liberty instead arrivedJune 1885 aboard a Frenchfrigate, packed in 214 crates, holding 350 pieces andweighing 450,000 pounds. However, due to stalled fundingin the United States, the statue’sbase wasn’t complete, so sheremained unassembled untilOctober 1886.
Standing 305 feet, 6 inches(from the pedestal base to thetorch’s tip), with an 8-foot-tallface and a 35-foot waistline,Lady Liberty remains the largestsymbol of friendship, freedomand democracy to millionseverywhere.

Bloom Where YouAre Planted
Recently as I passed through ourgarden area, the phrase “Bloom
Where You Are Planted” came tomind. Close observation of the
young plants that had beencarefully planted by our
gardener around the base of thefemale statue were now
blooming as vibrant, colorfulflowers.
Just as these plants were plantedin the garden to produce lovelyflowers, we have been placed inour circumstances for a reason. We can choose to make the bestof the situation where we findourselves or be unhappy and
cheerless. 1 Thessalonians 5:18- give thanks in all
circumstances; for this is God’swill for you in Christ Jesus.
(NIV)
When we bloom where we areplanted, we begin to changeourselves and others for thebetter, one person at a time.
Galatians 5:22 - the fruit of theSpirit is love, joy, peace,
patience, kindness, goodness,faithfulness. (NASB)
Let us be the best we can beright where we are. When we riseup and do what we can do, God
will rise up and do what wecannot do.
