Advent is a time to prepare for the coming of the Lord, whom we portray as a precious infant in a simple manger at the end of this season. But there are two more arrivals of our Lord to contemplate during this season of preparation and they tend to be overlooked. One day Jesus Christ will come again in glory as the world ends and he delivers his fainal judgement. He gives a glimpse of this to his disciples in today’s Gospel. But let us also consider his third appearance-to each of us personally, into oour hearts andinto our lives as we embrace him as his disciples. As we celebrate today, let us consider how we can welcome him ever more intimately into our lives.

As we say good-bye to Liturgical Year B, we welcome Advent Season that begins with Saturday Evening Prayer or Vigil Mass. This 1st Sunday of Advent begins Liturgical Year C that would end this time next year. Advent is the season for preparation as we await the coming of the Savior, Christ the Lord. Advent is for the period of four weeks. During this time we look at the reasons for our separation with God and Paradise, and reflect on our need for reconciliation with God. We are in need of redemption and salvation which the coming of the Messiah is our hope. In preparing for his coming, it is necessary at this time to look back at our failures in the past and find ways of amending our lives for a better future. Every new decision we now make would be profitable for a new life in Christ. I consider that our reflection should be on two levels, at least. One level is on the word of God proclaimed in this Season of Advent. The other level is on how we indulged ourselves in matters tantamount to our degradation and liable to our failures or near failures. It is at this level that, with the light of the word of God, we make new decisions that would guide our lives as we step forward into the future. Let us reflect on today’s Readings. There is God’s concern on our human conditions and the promise that he would, therefore, out of his justice restore his people (cf. Jer. 33:14-16). He would restore our lost innocence, the type Adam and Eve had in the Garden of Eden, and we would have spiritual excellence, spiritual strength to overcome spiritual battles in the garden of our lives. With the psalmist we lift up our souls to God (cf. Ps. 25). The Redeemer comes at three levels, we can conclude. His birth in Bethlehem is what we celebrate at Christmas. He comes daily into our lives if we let him in. His final coming in glory is what we await with fear and trembling. Today’s Gospel tells us not to allow the cares of this world to mislead us, and cause us not to wait with eagerness (cf. Luke 21:25-28, 34-36). We are in daily anxieties these days, frightened by the climate warming, financial worries or economic crunch all over the world, wars between nations and

even instability in our families and relationships. These are almost enough to distract and mislead us. But if we remain focused and reflected, we would recognize them as signs of the judgement of God on our worldliness. St. Paul prays that we make genuine efforts in all our conducts so that we remain blameless in holiness (cf. 1 Thess. 3:12-4:2). Let us reflect on how to make genuine efforts!

BAZAAR/FUNDRAISING Bazaar Meeting is today November 28th, after Mass. All bazaar members and PPC and PFC executives please attend. Dinners will be available for sale on December 12, immediately following the 10:00 am Mass in the Parish Hall. Menu will be available soon.

CHURCH DOORS PROJECT Our Church Doors Project is in progress as a fundriasing project. The painting is fully completed. The church has received the 1st $2,000 for 1 door, and a promisory for a 2nd door. To sponsor one church door in your name or family name right now cost $2,000. Only 5 sponsors are what we need. Why not sponsor a door? We will respect donor’s intention. Your generoisty is highly appreciated in advance.

“When we act in accord with the Spirit, we show our kinship with Jesus, "for whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother" (Mark 3:35). Resisting temptation is not easy, for the serpent is a formidable foe, but when we do we progress toward the reward of "an eternal weight of

glory beyond all comparison

(2 Corinthians 4:17).

Why do I have to go to Mass when I don’t enjoy it?

A Catholic adult who lives an average lifespan can attend as many as 4,084 Sunday Masses. No ritual or event can sustain good vibrations 4,084 times. The truth is that the Mass is not meant to always make us feel good. It isn’t actually about us – it’s about God. Mass is public worship. At every Mass, we worship God as a

natural response to His overwhelming magnificence. This is not

because God needs our praise, but because we need to praise

Him. We recognize we need to praise Him. We recognize and

honor all that is good about him.

Mass is a sacrifice. When the gifts are brought to the altar, each of us offers our lives along with the bread and wine. We can do nothing of our own accord, so Christ accepts our offerings – our sacrifice – and joins it to His ongoing work of salvation. Mass is a meal. Through the Eucharist, Jesus makes His home within us. We deepen our union with Jesus each time we receive His Word and His Body and Blood during Mass.

How important is your priest? If the choir is present but the priest isn't, can there be a

Mass? If the Eucharistic Ministers are there but the priest isn't, can there be a Mass? If the congregation is there but the priest isn't, can there be a Mass? If the priest is there but the choir, Eucharistic Ministers,

and congregation isn't, can there be a Mass? Let that sink in. Honor, Respect and Pray for your priest. Without him, there is no Eucharist. Show him the appreciation he richly

deserves.
