I want to acknowledge those members and thank them for getting more involved with club business. You know who you are. Some dates have been set so if you are not checking the club’s website calendar I have listed the dates as follows: June 22, 2013 from 9 to 3 will be Diablo Bowmen’s Open House. The one- time-a-year when our Club opens its gates to the public in hopes of spreading the joy of archery. There is a New Archers’ Clinic on July 20, 8:30am. This event is for Diablo Members only. If you are a new archer with questions about different shooting styles, equipment, a shooting issue, or basic maintenance then I recommend you attend this clinic. Aug. 10, 2013 at 4:00 p.m., following the club shoot. The Greg Tobler Memorial Fun Day which used to be called Family Fun Day. In the past years it was organized by Greg and Diane. Diane would organize the potluck and particulars while Greg did what he did best and organized the shooting games. This is an event that is put on by the club for its members. A flyer will be released soon to give the details. Diablo has also arranged for Instructor classes for Level I and Level II. They will be taught by our very own Dave McHuron. If you are a member and interested in a Level 1 class the cost will be $100 and $150 for members interested in the Level II class. The classes will be offered to non-members at a different price. Drop me an email if you are interested as I would like to get a head count before scheduling the classes. Things are looking great on the range hope to see you out there. CookshackDo you need work hours? We need volunteers!
May 19 is the Cartoon Shoot and we hope to have a great turnout. We need help in the main cookshack and we need help hosting the 3 snack shacks. If you are interested please contact [email protected] or call 925-250-3879.

March club shoot scores are online; look under score cards. We had 22 shooters. We had some high scores. Mark Fowler made a great lunch.
We will be having our second 900 round on First Sunday of April at 9:30 am. Lunch will be available. Bring a chair. If you plan on being there, give me an email or a call. I hope to see you there.
Join the club shootsClub shoots are for all members and guests! So don’t think you need to be a pro to participate. All archery shooting styles and skill levels are welcome to join. Club shoots are held on the 2nd Saturday of each Month at 9:00 a.m sharp. The fee to shoot is $4 for members and $5 for guests.

I attended the Yahi Bowmen "Spring Fling" 3D shoot on March 17th, 28 targets with 3 arrows. They put on a nice shoot that was well attended by about 50% traditional shooters and about 50% compound shooters. It was VERY windy, more wind than I have ever shot in, which made it challenging! It was sure nice to be able to go shoot and then not have to do any work! Check the CBH/SAA website calendar or the calendar in the club house for a list of shoots.

Spring is here, so we will be using the string trimmers (Weed Eaters) to trim the trails and make sure all of the shooting stakes are visible. There are now shoulder straps to use with the
string trimmers.
Public Service AnnouncementAll of the string trimmers in the tool shed RUN, I have personally started and ran them over the winter. When starting our trimmers, please DO NOT use the throttle lever, this will flood the machine and frustrate everybody. The only requirement is to "pump" the primer bulb about 5 or 6 times. Once the machine starts, let it run for about 20-30 seconds, then you can try to give it throttle. Please check the oil before starting, ask if you don't know how. Thank You.
We will be spraying Poison Oak around the trails and target butts.
Starting at the April work party, we will be rebuilding the steps that come down from target 23 to target 24 on the Dixon round. This should be a major improvement for making the trail easier to negotiate. We may have to close the Dixon round for a month or two.

Special Mention!Kent Swindell fabricated a roll out system for our generator so it can run outside it's house and stay cool. Thanks Kent for stepping up and completing this important project!

Indoor RegionalsBill Potts shot a 264 out of 280, Flint round. He dropped one arrow when his release went off before he was ready! Bill should have had a 269. It was a lot of fun, and he would recommend it next year.

Turkey season has sprung and the birds are abundant. You may notice them on Marsh Creek and Morgan Territory on your way to the range. They are big and abundant this year but unfortunately they know you cannot hunt them on these roads.
•Spring Turkey Season starts March 30 thru May 5
•Archery Only season starts May thru May 19
•1 bearded bird per day for a total of 3 per season

Once you have received your hunter education card you can then go to Walmart , Big 5 Sporting Goods or Bass Pro Shops and obtain your license. To hunt turkey you will need to purchase an additional upland game stamp for a total cost of $54.06 for an adult.
